Hello anyone home

 

I put mine on the day before we got that dusting of snow a few weeks back when the local new kept saying it was going to be a lot of snow and BE AFRAID. Actually I shouldn't say I put them on I had to have them put on because when I got new tires at Costco they used an impact driver on the lugs. So when I went to put the snow tires on using my 1/2" socket wrench, with extension, and using almost all of MY weight leaning on the wrench I was only able to break loose 3 lugs before I gave up realizing I was going to run out of daylight and freeze trying to get it done. So I load up the tires and go to the local tire shop to have them put on. It is close to their closing time and I have no appointment so I ask the counter guy if they can squeeze my car in and have the snow tires put on today. He is hesitant and not sure they have enough time then asks what type of car it is. When I tell him a BMW he is even more like no I don't want to do it and he goes on to tell me a story of another BMW owner who sued him for scratching one of his rims so he doesn't like working on BMW's. Now I am confused on how would they scratch my rims just swapping my tires then I realize he thinks I have summer tires that I want taken off the rim and snow tires I want mounted to those same rims. I quickly explain that the snow tires already have rims and just need to be swapped out with the summer tires. So with that explained he is more agreeable and they swap the tires for $38.00 which seems a little high. I just wanted the job done but I probably wont go back in the spring for that price.

 

Pffft....snow tires. The TL is rocking the car cover in the garage!

winter mode? I'm still in summer mode, not planning to go into winter mode until we get a foot of snow....mainly just because I'm too lazy to raise the car up and swap wheels, lol. Also dont have much snow tire tread left, summer tires are cheaper than winter tires so I rather burn through them instead of my snow tires.

Lucky u, my tl is a DD. I thought about driving my gf's CRV but since she's still making payment so no.

That's what I worried that I would burn the snow tires if I put it on now. I don't think I will raise my car up because its too much work. That's why I bough the snow tires instead.

That's cool Dude I forgot you were native American. It is all good. My car is going into Hibernation this week end. I just got it from the body shop.

 

So had a "pleasant" surprise this morning when I started my car.. looks like one of my fluids is leaking.. Passenger side, about 5-6 inches away from the tire (power steering??). Any ideas guys? It looks to be a brownish-black fluid.

 

Sounds like OIL. in that area is your oil filter. How bad is the leak. there are a couple of O-rings in that area that when they get old they dry and do not seal. When I parked my car for the winter last year and I pulled out for the summer i notice a little leak in the same area. The more i drove it the leak disappeared. That's my best guess with out crawling under the car. you can always ask Joe.
