I Took The TL To Ocean City For The Weekend. I Had A Great Time. On My Way Back Im Going West Bound On RT 50 About 30 Miles From The Bay Bridge. I Come Over A Hill I See A State Trooper In The Middle Of the Road He Is Waving In The Direction Of The Turning Lane Where His Cruiser Is Parked. Everybody In My Lane Pulled To The Side (The Cars In Front Of Me And the back of me) He Looks Into the first 2 Cars in front of me and waves them through he gets to my car looks into it and then waves the cars behind me through. the trooper stuck his whole head in the window as if he was trying to smell something. He then Says You Know you Were Doing 77 in a 55, Mind You When i Came into His View He Was In the middle of the road with no radar gun. Oh And By The Way Im Black

Same sort of thing happened to me when I pulled into the 7-11 at the bottom of Coastal HWY near the inlet. I stopped by there after I dropped my friends off at the bar to grab a few bottles of water and when I pulled it I could smell the odor of weed. Didnt think much of it since it sure as hell wasnt in my car, figured it was some vacationer just walking around with it or something. When I come back out I notice a few bike cops talking and as soon as I got to my car, they came over and blatantly asked me whens the last time I smoked. I said excuse me? I dont. I did smell it when i pulled in too.

Basically tried to blame me for the smell of weed in the air, then my car gets hit two days later. OC left a pretty bad taste in my mouth thats for sure.

 

Wow. Good thing they can't cite you for a smell. Christ.

And as for the OP, you my brother, should call a mother#kker out. See, it is shit like this that makes me go through the hassle of mounting and turning on my GoPro every time I get into the car to go somewhere. Mostly due to drivers as cops don't bother me much but still.

Get yourself a windshield mounted camera and the next time a cop pulls some crap like that feel free to challenge him and when you tell him you have proof he'll probably turn into a complete ass but he doesn't have any right to enter your vehicle and confiscate it.
His only choice is to let you go. And if you have audio on it as well, I would send a copy of the tape to his supervisor. This is how we control cops (the ones that are on a power trip or prejudice). I'm not anti-cop. I just hate dishonest ones. So screw 'em in the ass if they try to screw you first. Good luck to you.

 

Did it ever occur to any of you that the trooper might have had a buddy (that the OP didn't see) a way back running radar and this guy was just stopping and ticketing?

The Op also failed to say what happened. Was he given a warning, a ticket or just told to go on his way?

Does he have dark tinted windows and was there an event going on nearby where lots of alcohol or illicit drugs might have been consumed?

All we know is that the OP - along with a slew of other cars - was stopped by a trooper and the OP was asked if he knew that he was speeding.

That's all we know. You guys (given the amount of information provided by the OP) are all out of line.

 

Smh I Didnt Have Any Problems With OC Police. i Pretty Much Avoided Them The Whole Time

 

He Didnt Ask Me If i Was Speeding, He Told Me. He Said " You Were Doing 77 In A 55 And That He Was Writing Me A Citation. The Only Officer That Could Have Clocked me On Radar Was On The Other Side of the road where the officer who flagged me down was at, But that would be impossible seeing as That officer was on another traffic stop on the other side of the road. I Didnt Argue With the officer while he was in his car i took a picture of my Trip computer 40 seconds into the traffic stop. and for 38 straight miles my average speed was 58mph. ill just fight this ticket in court

 

Yea, that should get thrown out, go to court and ask him to present evidence from his radar gun and its calibration... They are reckless and out of control with their power at times, explain exactly what the officer was doing... Just randomly pulling a bunch of cars over to stick his head in everyone's vehicle.. i can tell you now, thats not a law unless he can provide a reason evidence for the stop

I rode by alot of troopers on 50 going home from OC and didnt have any problems. And the area you are talking about I saw about 3 troopers with laser radar guns while the other troopers were flagging or in their cars.

best you can do is go to court and beat it.

Out of line? I don't think so. Things like this happen far too often already. I merely made a recommendation to help quell the over-empowered authoritative figures that be and to mitigate any issues that might come about in terms of false accusations. I could care less if he were actually speeding at some point. We all do it. No one is innocent. Maybe the cop was completely fair. Maybe it was a radar trap. I thought of all of these things before I commented. But I digress...

The Method Where Another Officer Does Radar and Another One Writes The Ticket Is Pointless. Im Not Worried About Beating That. Im Not The Type Of person To Blame Racism On everything The fact That He Waved Over A Whole Lane Of traffic And Chose me Out Of All Of the Cars Raises My suspicion. The fact that he had no radar gun raises my suspicion. As you Can See i Would Be Perfectly Fine With the Ticket Had i been Speeding But i wasnt My trip Computer Clearly Show's that

 

Your trip computer proves absolutely nothing actually. All that MID display does is take your average speed. You could have been going 55-60 the whole time yes. But you also could have been doing 40-75 in certain areas as well.

I want to know how a COP pulls over a multiple cars (in a pack) and lets all but one car go. The one he gives a citation is in the middle of the pack. WTF!!

I can understand giving the car in the front a citation (with a radar detector).

You MID is not going to help you in court at all. Especially because it says AVG MPG. You could have been stuck in traffic for 5 miles doing 5mph average and then 5 more miles at 105mph. Avg MPH is going to be 55 man. Plus there is no way to prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that you were doing a constant speed the whole time.

Sucks that this happens, but this is why I do the speed limit in to and from OC. I know those troopers are all over the place around the bridge.

The cop should of given everyone he pulled over a ticket. doesn't seem right that they can pull over a bunch of cars going the same speed and only site one of them

You should ask to see the radar gun's result when he stopped you. Sometime ago, the local cop in Parsippany clocked me at 44 @ 25mph zone. He showed me the radar gun's result before writing me the ticket.

Not sure if it was my stroke of bad luck but right around that same area 3 weeks later, I was stopped for improper passing by another local smoky jerk but this time I decided to fight it in court. Luckily, the road was newly paved & weren't painted w/ the yellow lines. I took some pictures & showed the judge that w/out the yellow lines, I cannot determine if it was a passing or no passing zone. The judge threw the case out.

Remember, these so called public safety guardians are no larger than miserable ants in their uniform trying to enforce the ridiculous laws handed down by a**hole politicians & lawmakers from the Garbage State. I know this is a stinky lousy POS state cuz I used to live there.

 

I feel for you op. Like other have said, invest in a go pro cam. I know i will. I've been pulled over so many time for stupid stuff and believe me racism/profiling still exist. I'm not saying all cops are d bags but I've came a cross a few of them. I've been been pulled over for having a tail light bulb out, and that turned into the cop asking "how much drugs do you have in the car"? He didn't event want to see my license or registration. He finally let me go after I assured him that my car was clean.

 

Next time you get pulled over fara big one. Let them get a wiff of that hahaha.
