You're right. They aren't. It got way too big. I believe in the past this sort of thing remained on this board only. It was a AZ group thing, not a "every f*ing rice board on the 'net" thing. I've probably made some enemies now but I don't give a sh*t.
I don't mean to sound selfish and anyone that knows me knows that I'm not that way at all. (I've hosted two gatherings already). But this is a great example of what happens when you start inviting everyone and anyone.
Maybe we can try starting another thread to promote another group run to Skyline in a few weeks and prepare the same way that we have in the past. That's a nice way to say keep it on this board.
I'm going out on a limb here by saying that I think this thread and this idea is history, but I also think that's a pretty safe assumption to make.

So, block out all members from all other "rice" forums and replace them with all "AZ" members...would it make a difference?

We make a thread where it's mainly AZ people to go to Skyline (still on the 31st), since it seemed to work well in the past. Then after that we can make another thread as a "All-Cars" Mega meet at the Blue Ridge Parkway where it could accommodate the larger number of cars?
Thoughts/Suggestions???

It's really simple. It's the way it's been done in the past, and guess what? It's worked.
We post the meeting points, date and time and ask people who think they may be there to add their name to the list. Leg captains are about as official or as organized as it needs to get and the only thing they need to do is exchange information with the other leg captains. The only thing they need to discuss with each other is how many cars are here and we're leaving now.
No bbq's, no donations, no who's bringing the hot dogs. If you want to discuss those types of things, do it on your own. Not in the thread. The thread is nothing more than a sign up sheet. Okay?

I think everyone makes a good point. I hate when people make it a only "so and so" meet but at the same time if its just us willing to chip in then we really hav no choice. Im sure most people will chekc this thread the day before or of the meet. We may just have to ditch the ride thru the park because either way you see it we need 200 for a fucking permit. I say we hit the blue ridge and the ppl who chip in for bbq food are allowed to join the bbq.

It's spring time. Up here in the NE we get stir crazy having to endure the cold and we tend to get excited easily about warm weather type events. I know I do.
All we need to do is start another thread with the leg locations, the date and time and ask people that would like to go to sign up.
A week or so before the event make any updates that might be required. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Any discussions about what to do, what to bring, who's doing who, (: , should be done elsewhere.
Maybe give it a week to settle down or just delete this entire thread and start over with what we've learned in mind.

I'm not reading all 7 pages of this ish.. but from what I'm getting on this page.. the meet is open to anyone and everyone? There is nothing wrong with saying this is a "closed" meet. People do it all the time. It's for AcuraZine only, what's the big deal?

This is bulls***. Everything was organized properly, and everything we talked about in this thread was pertaining to the meet. I really don't see the big deal. If you guys want a "closed" meet then don't post a MEGA MEET as a thread title. Some people like myself have already taken off for this day and looked forward to the huge turnout regardless if I was going into Skyline or not. I dont see why it only got to be Azine people????

wow, lot of emotions floating around all w/ valid points. so here's my 2cent; y are we trying to fix something not broken? lets us apply the K.I.S.S. method, Keep It Simple and Stupid. Last skyline meet went extremely well (except couple cars getting pulled over after they were warned several times not to speed) and we started w/ fairly large crowd primarily Acura based and most importantly NO PERMIT WAS REQUIRED. there is nothing wrong doing the speed limit, and if you must speed do it on a closed road, trail etc. My advice is to keep the meet as is, still plan on bbq, for go the permit b/c there is no park rule stating "don't allow more than xx number of Acuras in the park w/o a permit". Don't allow human induced friction prevent us from enjoying a day out in the park w/ people of same interest. Lets overcome and adapt, don't allow smokey bear to dictate what we can or can not do with in reason.

I agree. Once the discussion started focusing on permits and what-not, and especially when the topic became money, admission fees, etc. then it got way to much.
Start a list, or keep this one we have, but maybe start a second thread and call it "Comments About " or something. I say we forget about the permits, the fees, and all that other stuff.

and what about the people that sent money already...if the meet is still goin keep the five I sent for the permit and put it towards the bbq..if not then I want a refund but I reallyy was lookin forward to the meet..and as far as az only..I don't think it matters if we aren't getting the permit..regaurdless people will bring people..that's my opion

Everyone I've met from this board were all awesome people BTW. I agree forget the fees, and all that. Just sign up if you are going to come and that's that.

I apologize for blowing this up, hyping it and posting it up everywhere before consulting everyone here on Acurazine first.
Let's leave this thread open for discussion and we could start a thread for the list, meet up times, and when to roll out and what's going to happen.
We have a full month left.
As far as BBQ whoever agrees to do that should talk with each other through PM's, exchange numbers, etc.
I will not be at Skyline Drive though.
I am currently setting up my own caravan with the rest of the pack towards Blueridge Parkway. I did not want to cancel the meet for them and found an alternative instead. If anyone wants to meet up with us later that would be cool but if not everyone have fun at Skyline Drive.
There is a place to enter Blueridge parkway where you do not have to pay anything, no permit, less traffic, and best of all...barely any police harassment. If you are interested let me know. We will round up everyone at the final rally point and discuss.

Still keeping the meets named "Skyline" for hype purposes and keep the same ralley points(legs1-4).I think that the bulk of the day will be consumed by driving and we will not have time to stop to have a big elaborate BBQ. Lets plan a " AZ only" meet close to home maybe the day before or whenever at another location like Chesepeake beach or Rock Creek park to BBQ.
