hi i was wondering if this was just my girlfriends car or a somewhat common problem, my girlfriend has an '02 acura rsx and i have an '04 tl and her rsx is significantly louder on the road than my TL that being said its more unusual than just the money acura puts into both cars, is there an insulation problem or is it just her car?

So many variables that there could be. Your TL will obviously be quieter, one because it has a larger, lower revving engine. But it could come down to the tires.

But yes the RSX is pretty loud on the inside, could be to help save weight. I don't mind it though.

 

While the RSX will be louder than the TL due to increased sound insulation, the RSX road noise could be caused by the tires. My '02 RSX Type-S was extremely loud on BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires after about half tread life. When I replaced them with Yokohama YK520 tires, it was like night and day. The road noise was gone!

If the noise varies when driving over a smooth dip in the road, it is likely tire noise that you are hearing.

Same here. My RSX was extremely loud on BF Goodrich tire. I've recently bought Continental Extreme Contact DW tires, and noise has been reduced by a lot, but it still is and going to be louder than my TL.

 

4cyl cars are generally noisy, specially honda k20 cars.

 

Anyone know anything about Nexxen, or Nexxon tires? Could they be the reason for my horrible road noise?
