Advice :2005 Acura Rsx Type S

I am thinking of buying a 2005 acura Rsx type S with 50k on it , 6 speed.. Can anyone that owned one tell me the pros and cons of having one and compare it to the tl type s (03) (i know they are 2 different cars but still) BTW i have never owned a 2 door car before...

Biggest pro = 6 speed

But my advice, do your homework on the service history of the car. I've seen too many of these cars beat on.

They're not all beat on, obviously. But I usually assume this until I can convince myself otherwise

Good luck!

I had one for about a month as a loaner. I liked the steering wheel, the seats, & the general interior layout. I like the go cart feel it had. Didn't feel big. I liked the 6mt. I did not like the lack of power & the cramped interior.

All I can tell you never lived with one longer.

I had one for about 6 months or so, I loved it. It was a great car to learn to drive stick on, as well as netted amazing MPG compared to the TL I had before.

It scoots, but it's pretty damn slow in less you do quite a lot of bolt ons and get it tuned, then it's running with STI's and EVO's.

I like the stock clutch feel, it's not soft like BMW has it, the 3rd gear is known to grind so watch for that.

I beat the living piss out of my RSEX and it never ever gave up and took it like a champ.

I say go for it! you'll miss the heated seats of the TL and that's about it.

Yeah, I really am looking into the 3rd gear problem. I have a friend that is trying to sell me his but it has a rebuilt title so no more warranty. SO the 3rd gear issue is troubling me the most. Any advice on that? or is it just a swing and a miss..

I've had mine for 6 years now. 2nd gear was a bit crunchy at times, but the new Honda MTF (green label) helped a lot.

It's cramped, and the ride's kinda bouncy. Doubly so if you lower it, since there's not much suspension travel in the design.

So basically the ride quality sucks compared to the tl?

Yeah, it's pretty far from comfy. The ride with the stock 16" wheels (205/55-16 tires) was passable, but the 05-06 S comes with 215/45-17 tires which is what I'm running now. There's a lot of road noise as well (more than a 1g TSX, but less than an S2000).

Much better than for tall ones! A colleague is 6'8" and he has a hard time sitting in the passenger seat without the seat back reclined quite a bit. I am 5'9" and set it about two notches from all the way back.

I like my TL... Bigger Engine means more Torque, Bigger Car means more space.. 4cylinders make so much noise compaired to a 6 cyclinder..

stick to your TL thats my opinion
