Arrow How high is too high for PSI?

Hello

Purchased Certified Acura ILX Premium 2016 in January and received low tire pressure (temps were in the teens). Adhered to the side of the door panel for the PSI and inflated tires to 35/33. Original Michelin tires on car.

As the temps rise I am noticing the tire pressure go up to 39/40 range on front tires and about 37/38 on back tires. Should I be concerned of potential balding of the tires with this high pressure or is this not even considered high pressure?

Thanks in advance

Adjust them to the oem specs. Your car will ride rough and not to mention un even tire wear with those psi numbers. Its only getting warmer out and those numbers will continue to rise.

COLD Pressure should be 35/33. When you drive and as temps increase, it will go up.. That's normal.

This Temp increase is not only normal, but is accounted for if you inflate your tires to spec COLD. I autocross and track for years, so I always have to play with tire pressure for optimum performance. It is not uncommon to run 45psi at autocross to keep tires from rolling over on the rim. It also varies by tire brand because of different sidewall & tire construction.

Now, if I run the door jam recommended pressures I tend to still kill the edge of the tire prematurely because of spirited street driving. I have to run at least 5psi higher especially on front. back not so much. I run 40 psi all around on my Murano = less rolling resistance, better gas mileage, better tire wear.

So, just like stock exhaust and stock suspension is a compromise between performance and comfort, so are those psi numbers on the door, and should be modded like everything else! All those guys running 19's are risking cracking the rim at stock psi! I would run at least 40 -45 psi if I was on 19s.

Bottom line, besides driving style, the tire will talk to you. If you see you are wearing the edges more than the center of the tire you need to ADD more psi. … add more psi … add more psi
