AC issues, compressor stops

Hello all, long time reader, first time poster.

I have an ac issue that's racking my brain. My compressor seems to shut off whenever the system is under load. Runs fine in idle (usually), and shuts off once the car gets going. Some mornings when it's cooler I can get it to stay on for my trip to work.

1. When I hold down the auto and on/off button, I get a code of C1. It doesn't flash with the "88" that I've read elsewhere. Does anyone know what this code pertains to?
2. When the compressor shuts off, the recirculation button is disabled? Does anyone know what causes this error?

2013 ILX Hybrid w/tech, 65,000 miles. When the system is running, it's nice and cool. I have a feeling something is telling the compressor to shut off, but can't figure out what.

Any suggestions?

if under warranty, go to the dealer and have them fix it. If you are just out of warranty just go to a Honda/Acura private mechanic guy and just get it fixed. Pay for an oil change at the dealer so they throw in a free multi-point inspection and tell you whats wrong. Get the free estimate, and then go get a second opinion, from a private mechanic. ALWAYS get second opinions and NEVER tell them you are doing that. let them tell YOU whats wrong with the car. If they say something different or the same, get a 3rd opinion if needed. I've noticed mechanics and shops are getting shadier. More and more cars require less and less maintenance. So dealers and mechanics are trying to squeeze every ounce they can. You have time to get a couple different opinions, AC isn't stopping the car from working.

Back in the days, I owned a 2007 Civic that had AC issue working some time and other not working, and after some research, I found out it could be a relay issue, so I change the relay for a made in japan one, and Voila, 8.99$ later it was fix.

So reading your issue, at that price, I would try that route first.

it's shutting off because it's low on the refrigerant, being a 13 could have a slow leak. put some die in it after topping it up drive around for a few months then inspect using U.V light a goggles. if there's a leak you'll see where it is.

it's that the avg. person doesn't have the understanding of what it takes to properly maintain a vehicle besides the very basics. I would see all kinds of issues with a customers vehicle and they refuse to believe me and most of the time thought I was trying to scam them, so the repairs never happened, then they wonder why they need to buy a new vehicle so soon. Second or even 3rd options are fine for peace of mind if your that skeptical.
