Compressor or Compressor Clutch... Need help figuring it out asap

Long story short my A/C went out completely. 2 days ago the compressor was causing the whole car to shake at idle. When the compressor went out I say a spray of what appears to be grease around the compressor pulley area. The Compressor appears to spin freely when the car is on and no damage has been done the belts to indicate the compressor siezed up. Is there any way to test to see if the compressor is bad or if the clutch is only bad. I would like to spend 1/2 the money I would need if I could get away with just a clutch. I've searched any haven't found anything.

turn your A/C on and off to see if the clutch engage the compressor if you hear a click but no A/C it may be your compressor. If you don't hear a click then the problem is obvious.

I'd say compressor is bad. If the clutch assembly rotates when A/C off and no sound, clutch bearing good and with no evidence of clutch failure, e.g. chatter or smoke, clutch is not the problem.
Just did some searching and it looks like Parts Geek has a new Austin Baker compressor/clutch assembly for $189.10 free shipping.

I know nothing about the company other than what one can read on the net.

Ya. I had to take the whole front end apart in order to access the compressor. Ended up breaking a bolt off in the condenser which set me back a bit. Once I took out the radiator and condenser the compressor was easy to get to. I filled the compressor with 2 oz of Pag 46 oil, installed a new accumulator on the condenser and installed a new expansion valve. The expansion valve is located on the firewall on the passenger side. Make sure the engine is cold when you pull this part out. Had my mechanic buddy come in a fill vacuum the system and recharge the system and now I have ice cold air. It was 108 outside when we charged the car and I am getting air at the output at 48 degrees!!! Now I have other issues to sort through and fix on the car but at least this one is out of the way.
