ILX/TLX 8-Speed DCT LSD

I emailed Quaife a while ago about an LSD. They said if I could get a minimum 10 purchased, they would start producing.
I think the biggest performance mod you could make would be a TLX final drive (4.57:1 vs ILX 3.94:1) and LSD.
I know I'd lose top speed, that I've never seen anyway. Adding power will eat clutches and I don't want to go there until someone starts building stronger.

Yeah i always though a TLX FD with a LSD would be a pretty sick combo. Something of a Aspec+ trim for the transmission ya know?

I mean the 8th gear is so damn long, i don't think it would really matter in the end for economy.

Unless you do a lot of 90+mph. It would probably suck in Texas.

I would guesstimate that a set of 10 would cost somewhere around $10,000, give or take.
roughly $1,000 give or take for purchase.

It was an inquiry, I didn't try to make a deal.

Yes, this sums it up well. And the big but is, it would void any warranty on transmission to wheels.
I don't have a problem with being the first to mod, but I'd like to see a little more history for this transmission before taking that on.
When you get right down to it, the ILX is 39 lbs. more with 9 hp less than a '56 Corvette automatic, with 6 more gears. A little massaging to wake it up...
I was looking for a real LSD because I get to drive on ice. The computer hocus pocus comes on way too late and just puts on the brakes, lights up the dashboard, and shakes the steering wheel.

I'd be interested. Think we'd be able to find 10 willing to purchase and install transmission modifications?

I would be interested in a LSD. What do you guys think the DCT can actually hold hp wise? 250 hp...?

The dry clutch system is better for mpg's and don't hold high torque, so, you know where Honda went.

(clif)

Clutch types[edit]

Dual-clutch transmissions use two fundamentally different types of clutches: either two wet multiplate clutches, bathed in oil (for cooling), or two dry single-plate clutches.[9] The wet clutch design is generally used for higher torque engines that can generate 350 newton metres (258 lbf⋅ft) and more (the wet multiplate clutch DCT in the Bugatti Veyron is designed to cope with 1,250 N⋅m (922 lbf⋅ft)[2]), whereas the dry-clutch design is generally suitable for smaller vehicles with lower torque outputs up to 250 N⋅m (184 lbf⋅ft).[2][7] However, while the dry-clutch variants may be limited in torque compared to their wet-clutch counterparts, the dry-clutch versions offer an increase in fuel efficiency,[2] due to the lack of pumping losses of the transmission fluid in the clutch housing.[2]

I contemplated a Type R top end and doing a turbo, but I don't feel like testing the torque holding, even though the torque converter takes out the shock.

So pretty much a naturally aspirated full bolt on set up. I/H/E + tune is your limitations of this dry clutch DCT set up. I guess some light 17" wheels would help relief the stress added on the DCT once opened up a bit N/A.

You could probably get away with 500 hp on skinny hard tires and wet streets. Just don't put the torque to the ground.
I wanted the LSD to be able to have a little more control in ice. The traction control system we have doesn't start working until around 22 mph, way too late for driving on ice.
We're stuck with AWD (not all wheel drive, a wheel drive)

LOL where do you live? I'm in Toronto Canada and we get rough winters. Good snow tires go along way. Yes a LSD would be ideal for all types of driving including ice.

I dont think anyone will put 500 hp to this car ever. Not the 16+ DCT at least. So lets hope a full bolt on tuned 16+ DCT can handle the increased power on a good tire/rim combo.
