usdmJON's 2013 ILX build
Yay new page... just the recent edits.

Thank you!! More to come.
Sorry again for the late reply.
Currently the holes are still there with nothing covering them. In the shots I post here I edit them out with a stamp tool.
I am on the fence currently deciding if I want to grab some DIY plugs or just leave the holes. Plugs would be border line more noticeable.

Something like those would work fine for a look like this

Im sure Ill go that route when Im feeling a tad less lazy.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I used to have a AP1 S2k.
I loved those little body colored bumper plugs!
Unfortunately, the ILX is set up a bit different. There's actually two large holes in the bumper that mounts the License Plate mount. Then you bolt the license plate to the mount.
The S2000 has license plate size holes that allows you to mount the license plate directly to the bumper. Much nicer set up, imo.
Unfortunately, the ILX holes are much larger than the standard license plate size holes on the S2k.

Are they these?

If so then the double prong back end wont fit onto the ILX which only uses one hole on each side.
Thanks though. Whenever google search those plugs come up mocking me. Which it was that easy.
lol okay okay
here it is without the edited holes... it's only two and they aren't that noticeable! Part of me thinks Id draw more attention to them if I got bumper plugs.
I'll just wait until its time for a facelift and have them covered for good.

But ill take second best! Hahaha thanks man
NP bro do u have a photo of Aaron's ilx? id like to see the face lift you are talking about
Finally went into my acura dealer to talk about my lease maturity.
Walked out quite pleased.
No more payments until Feb10. Now 100,000 mile warranty. Currently sitting at 35,xxx after 3 years. And paying $10 cheaper a month. Huzzah!
Sat around for a while waiting on the employee that would get all my paperwork ready. Chatted with a few of the sales guys. Made me happy to see people liked what I had done with the ILX. They approved of current and future plans.
I tried getting the side/rear kit figured into my new agreement but I guess they cant do that because the way I go from a lease to ownership means I am technically buying a used car to which they cant add features to adjust the cost. Sucks, but I did 0 down this time so I can easily use my tax return which I had planned to use as a down payment to pick up the rest of the OEM kit. I may very well do this. We'll see!

Great choice man.

I quit my sales job at Honda. It was great for the overall experience, but it was a dead end for me, as my goal is to finish higher education, and this job is insanely time consuming, more so as a new to the game salesman.
everyone's wants, needs and situations are different. BUT, i can tell you, generally speaking.... The wealthiest people bought cars the smartest ways, saving the most money... Many times bought used cars (certified pre-owned, or very lightly used, saved a ton from first owner new car devaluation)... or came in with fat ass downpayments... or most (and best) of all, with a pre-approved loan rate % through a bank or credit union.
AND they generally all kept cars until they had 10-15 years on them, and/or 200,000 - 300,000 miles, on the odometer. Usually, if they traded cars because of mileage, or closer to the 10 years, they probably drove a lot for work, and they were somewhat paranoid about missing work due to a broken down car.
Generally these people have cars that are IMMACULATE. I met a guy that was an executive at a fortune 500 company. A real deal millionaire. He had a 12 year old Toyota Camry. Really nice top of the line model. That's another common thread. Yea, they get a grocery getter. But a really nice model. He ended up buying a brand new Honda Accord.
Point of my story is, from my experience, cars are generally a money pit... so to lose the least just get a decent car and do what everyday actual rich people do. Keep it really well maintained, immaculate, keep it for as long as possible. 10-15 years, probably up to 300,000 miles. I never saw anyone (wealthy) push their main daily car past the 300,000 mark, even if it still ran great.
I sold a car to a civil engineer with a 1996 Honda Accord with 45,000 miles. Another real deal millionaire. The car was his wife's, she died, it was paid off, he kept it. I would drive the SHIT out of that car. Looked brand new. His granddaughter wanted a beetle... SMH a beetle?! WTF
Point of my post is, Jon, you have a car that is above average. Its an Acura. The bulk of the average car's on the road is gonna be your basic Nissan Sentras, Toyota Corollas, Honda Civics, etc., so it is entirely a true and fair statement to say that when your car IS 12 years old, it will factually STILL be nicer then half the cars on the road.
I'm trying to keep my car until around 2025, IF my circumstances allow. If its still good, ill keep it as a back up.

On the other hand...
Broke ass losers? CONSTANTLY trading cars. I'm not joking. CONSTANTLY leasing. They own nothing, have horrible credit, get terrible rates, don't want to give a down payment, argue the most over the deals, and still lose because they have no ground to stand on. See, the rich guy with a paid off car and a 700+ credit score can say "Hey, I'll put more down, but that rates going down" ... DONE.
The brokeass bitch? Doesn't want to put anything down, even tho they have a 421 credit score... and there co-signer had a 391. TRUE STORY... Even had one guy who literally tried to sell me his really gawdy bling-ed out watch for $500 bucks.... Guy makes $6000 a month, and yet is so broke, he's selling a random stranger his watch... SMH... Rich people (regular, not celebrity type) are not constantly buying SHIT. They buy good stuff and take care of it.

Hey Jon was gonna ask you too... Did you ever find out if you have a tuning option available? yay or nay? And are you gonna use it soon, if available?
I quit Honda because my sister is now a BSN registered nurse graduate thanks to my help, and i gotta get my education on too... Wanted to quit earlir due to the BS parts of the job, but grinded it out for the decent cash...I'm also trying to get in to a pretty decent job right now... ill make about the same but have 3-4 days off a week, set schedule, perfect for finishing school. I'm trying to hold off using my GI Bill as long as possible, so I can use it for grad school. Whenever i land another decent job, I'm looking to tune with Hondata and probably gonna use a vitviper e-tune. Also gonna get that CT engineering shortshifter... I asked Buddy Club and they said that someone tried the SI shortshifter on the ILX and that it wasn't direct fitment, because center console was a little different.... They said it might fit with trimming .... not really trying to test that out...
Also trying to get the Canadian market front hood deflector.
DUDE... when I was shopping pretty heavy for wheels right now i kept seeing your wheels in specs i really want for the car, and for good prices... EVEN IN CHROME MAN... the struggle was real... but i can't bite on your style, there's too many nice wheels out there... would be really lame to me to get the exact same ones you already are rocking on the same damn car....
Since I got some good rubber because my tires were done, it REALLY is making me want the Hondata already...car drives WAY better, but I know that with the Hondata will blow my mind... I'm really tempted to get summer tires for the next set, or for whenever i get wheels...

all of those wordy posts and that was your response. hahahahahhaha...awesome.
Anyway, I do agree with a lot of your points, AOM...my old girl just hit 12 YO and I've owned her for 7 as of next month (well, paid off as of 3 ago)...and I keep having to tell myself to stay away from the new car itch and that she does the job just fine.
I agree too, Jon's is a great example of a nicely modified ILX. Congrats on buying out the lease (if I read that right) and hopefully snagging the rest of the lip kit. Happy NY, too.
I recommend you try to keep it until at least 15. Get the most you can out of it, and then sell it while it still has some nice resale value to a private party. Your TL looks awesome, that's basically a fatass down payment in a few years on a new/newer car. I saw one on base in silver, owner had basic bolt on mods, nice 2 inch drop, and that thing was FLAWLESS. It honestly still looks way better then a lot of the newer cars...
On that same note, I bet that number is gonna keep climbing higher. i mean i still see some really nice 2000's cars all the time. I wanted a few, and I'm kind of a cheap ass, would have been well worth the money. EXCEPT, where i live is pretty safe, but super high auto crimes (theft, smash and grab, vandalism), ESPECIALLY certain car models. So I just wanted to avoid getting targeted. Thieves stole my mom's Toyota like 2 times, second time they caught them and they were about to chop it. They smashed and grabbed on it like a couple times too. My sister's Honda has been stolen and broken into as well. My old Corolla had the radio swiped (first car).
Anyway, IS300 stick shift, RSX type s, TSX stick shift, S2000, TL type s, MAN... if I already owned one of those, I'd be hanging on to it for a LONG time. All of those are BIG targets where i live. By the time my car is 15 years old, i bet the average car on the road WILL be 15 years old... whats crazy about that is if you REALLY felt like it... You could possibly even keep it to 20 and STILL get a nice few grand for it... crazy... LOL
Jon - sounds good. i want bags too... right now looking like a pipe dream tho... cuz pretty expensive and the more money I dump into the car, the more it hurts my soul... 3 last huge mods I really want to do cost thousands each... DAMN... sticker shock.... bags, Supercharger, wheels...for all 3, that's as "cheap" as $7,500 to maybe $15,000 FUUUUUUUUUUUU... MAY still do it tho... Not really into payment plans... BUT I know a few places... and it hurts me less then dropping that all at once... FUUUUUUU

Yes I bought out the lease. As well added a 100,000 warranty which is a nice feeling. Im pushing about 12k a year.
Lip kit I could not do while there but I may just use this tax return for it pick it up. I think I will pick up just the sides then look into the aeroflow side splitters. I maaaay add the ez lip on the edge of the aero flow lip just to add some length to the side.

I gotta give it to Jon he is one persistent guy after 3+ years he still loves his car like the first day. Im about to hit one year into my car but idk man the taking pictures of my car stage has died off....but yeah he does have some great backgrounds hahaha
Well I knew what I was picking up when I first signed the lease. Now I own the car and Im super pumped to go the direction I want with it.
Dont get me wrong. The taking pictures has slowed down The amount of negative in these forums severely has me not caring to post around here. I went from posting like 5 times a day to maybe once a week in my own thread. 9 negative assholes for every nice compliment is pretty sad. But that's the nature of an internet forum.

But since you asked.
Nothing new except car is now bought out now with a 100 thousand mile warranty. Ive been pushing just under 12k a year so my 50k warranty wouldnt have lasted much longer.
With this tax return I am looking to pick up the OEM side skirts and hopefully figure out a side skirt extension WITHOUT winglets. I love what Aeroflow makes but I dislike winglets. I dont think they flow with this car.

Dirty ass car due to all this rain and no chance at a good wash.

Today I walked out of the market to a nice dollar size scratch/dent in my driver side rear passenger door.
Of course the only cameras in the lot aren't near where I parked.
I guess this is why I have a $500 deductible but Im not sure if going that route would increase my insurance costs. I'll have to speak with my rep. But we all know it wont be 100 after. Id need a new door and even then Ive owned the car for 3 years in SoCal sun. Paint matching wouldnt be perfect.
It's honestly not that bad and its not even visible at night. But when you see a nice reflection in the door you'll see it.
Sucks living in just a decent neighborhood because for every 3 people that may leave a not you have another 3 that just don't give a fuck. I hope whoever left the dent watching something they love die... or at least get dented.

Thanks mang. Yeah it was just a lame random encounter. Its actually the exact parking lot my old integra was hit and run in maybe 5 years ago.
What sucks is i shouldnt have been there. I was trimming the back of my head and screwed up a tad so i just drove down to my girl friends hair salon while she was between cuts. That 15 minutes i was there i got hit.
I parked next to a handicap spot with no spot on the other side so i figured i was safr causr whoever parks in the handicap has no spot to park in next to them because of the ramp so they have ample room. Nope. Wasnt enough apparently. Assholes.
Really it isnt bad at all. Ill post pics after a wash. Two small scratches and a little dent between the two. Ib better itll be fixed for less than my deductible.
Great choice man.
