usdmJON's 2013 ILX build
New page.... bringing that last pic over...

Classic tale of OEM vs Aftermarket. Which side do you choose?
Back when I first put on the 80w LEDs I did a DRL vs High beam picture to show the difference since everyone was telling me the high beams would not be any brighter than the DRLs... they were wrong.

Currently though I am rocking amber DRLs. That is what the above link is for. NOT the clear ones.
Still the same style and still 80w just not white LEDs. I keep the white ones as backups now.

Jon do you have a picture of your LED DRL? Up in Canada these things are on as requirement and the yellow halogens look absolutely atrocious. I may do the DRL's next depending on picture. Also, does it affect your High Beams much at night? I suspect it may lower the light output, but is it enough to pose a safety hazard?

Can't get enough of your wheels bro, seems perfect for the car. Only criticism I can give is the rear wheel needs a lower offset. But overall, my vote goes to yours as the best looking ILX.
Just curious though, would you be able to pm me what price I'm expecting to shell out for wheels like those?

I love these things. My favorite Work Wheels and all around probably my second or third all time favorite wheel along side the Weds Borphes and SSR SP1.
I agree the rear could use a lower offset but better than that I am going to rebuild all four. They are only 18x8 +38 right now.(I think I found out they were 35 but I really cant remember right now) I want 18x9.5. I'll swap out the 1in outer lips for 2.5in outer lips. This should add just about 38mm more poke and more lip making the offset more like 0. I'll have to roll the inner part of the fender when I do and possibly run some camber kits to dial it in perfectly.
That wont be for a little while as each out barrel is going to cost me about $200 plus the money for labor plus some powdercoat to finish the faces. Starting to see some chipping. P.S. Don't go to Americas Tires to have your wheels redone. They don't powdercoat.

I'll PM you regarding price and where I got them as well some wheels they currently. Thanks for the compliment again!!
I'd check out ijdmtoy
Shop Car LED Lights, LED Bulbs, Headlights, Tail Lights, Fog Lamps
They are located state side so you may be able to get 2-day shipping.
Or better yet
With amazon you can get those tomorrow (if purchased in 8 minutes). Chances are you wont see this until after 8 minutes but goes to show amazon can be super quick if you find a state side seller. You will need to find 9005 LED resistors as well. Just search "9005 led resistor" and look for these

Love the curves in the rear half of the ILX. Looks great when the reflection is right.
Thank you!
And no way. Ill sooner rebuild these wheels to a more aggressive and desirable width before I get new wheels. And even then I'm not sure if I could bring myself to sell them.
Next set is going to be something special though for sure if I want to top the vsmx in my regard.

dude I literally looked for mag blue CE28n everywhere LOL...I would not find a decent set for my budget...finally landed on this set of black CE28N's...the spec on the wheels and tires were EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Good luck with the find bro...also the only issue with the CE28n's is the lip, because of the lip, the spokes look smaller...look for ZE40's since they do not have a lip, the spokes meet the edge hence the rims look bigger + the spoken concave more

I cant wait! Going to go with visors and some exhaust mods before i do the wheels. I am thinking i may save up to completely rebarrel them and go 19x9 +10 all around. Not as agressive as 9.5 but with thay extra 1in diameter i dont think id need or want it.
That thing has... presence... haha
Haven't seen one that built up from that year model.
* John I agree, I think 9.5 is a bit too wide man. 19x8.5 is safe bet, but 19x9 would definitely look quite aggressive on this car. I'm not knowledgeable enough on offset to comment on that.

Dirty girl. Needs a wash tomorrow.

Planning on picking up visors this week or next. Then probably look into replacing the cat with a straight pipe from Megan Racing. Pretty much just to stink up the neighbor hood. hahaha
Also time to consider picking out the rest of my VIP themed interior pieces... and no, not curtains. Need matching rear neck pads and Id like some lumber support pads for the front then some throw pillows for the rear. Just two half pillows should fit perfect without being too much back there.

Are you going to pick up these?
Side Visor - ILX 13-15 ? H.I.C. USA
I think they are local to me, they are in Chino which is like 5mins away i might drop by there to see if i can get a discount.
Also youre running amber LED's on your fogs correct?

sniffle... sniffle.... no more chrome door pillars... no more chrome door edge liner/protector....

The pillars are now gloss black, which it was deeper, glossier black, but its better then the stock look to me. have the 3m clear door edge liner protectors now.

Nah, i like chrome. I wish I could put the real polished aluminum door pillars with the door visors, but they don't fit together. I tried other door pillars, they were all really shitty. The door edge liner was shitty quality too. Thought it would be way better, big letdown.
I still have pvd/chrome OEM wheels and I even have a chrome tow hook. Plus now the 2016 refresh offers an OEM chrome side strip/bump guard thing. Which should still fit on 2013-2015.
Whenever I get wheels, I'm like 95% sure its gonna be chrome. Or maybe wheel faces something candy pearl, like a teal, but with chrome lip. I have my own tastes.
** I also added these black wheel well guard things, pretty sure they were ripoff. They were like $75 through the dealer. But couldn't find online or at autoparts store, and since it was through dealer it was warrantied, so fuck it. They wanted like $250 at first too. WTF ? It was too late anyway, I already have at least one ding. Ill get it fixed when I repaint the front lips. Adds a little bit more body to the car, subtle but nice. You can see them in the pic.

Now to save up and rebuild my Work Wheels. Ive got a lot of thinking to do on what sizing I want to run.
I have a feeling if I go 9in wide I will want to go wider. I also believe if I stay 18 I'll just wish I had gone with 19in step lips.
So I am thinking I will shoot for 19x9.5 with an offset around 20-25. Refinish the faces with powdercoat and replace the painted gold hardware with polished gold hardware... also need to replace the polished valve stem with the gold work valve stems so they match the hardware.
First time around I got a great deal on a shitty paint job from Americas Tires. This time around I will do it right and send my wheels back to VR for some real quality work.
Thanks. I am very happy with them. At first, like others, I thought they bulged out a lot. Now, I feel they are easier to clean because you can actually fit a towel between them and your window. The chrome trim is a tad tacky the way they end it but it is 100% better than nothing!
@usdmJON
What kind of LED's are your using/where in your car...
You know I'm brining in a large shipment of my own specification of LED's in a few weeks. Its kinda my business... Maybe we should talk lol.
HID planet <-- you can see the 63 page long progress thread from my initial test batches to the final branded versions which are now only a few weeks from landing state side.
Or Theres also This

I see that you're rebuilding your Work Wheels. Whenever you change 0.5 inch barrel/lip your offset changes by +/-6.35. Not sure if you knew that or not. I just had mine redone with aggressive offset

Holy thread jack.
