Upgrade to ILX.. from a Cobalt

Thought I would share as I am hoping this forum gains speed with the ILX crowd.

Here is the old car .

Shaved the trunk lock

Leather Interior too

I loved the car a lot, but it was time to upgrade to a big boy car so..

I recently purchased my 2013 Acura ILX Premium Package in Silver Moon from acura of omaha. Love the car!!

With Black leather interior however, I had to tint the windows. Window tint I picked out was 25% and is getting tinted on Tuesday this week.

My next quest is to find a set of nice wheels for the summer that keep the luxury theme alive, but are bigger than the factory 17" wheels. I am looking a set of 19x8.5 Avant 310's and I'm looking at a set of 19x8.5 TSW Cadwell wheels. I know the forum is slow, but anybody have any input on wheel selection without turning the car into a 16 year olds dream car?

Congrats, and nice upgrade. Looks like you took good care of the Cobalt. Did you opt for the stick or automatic ILX? Can't offer much advice on the wheels but will stay tuned to see what you end up with.

I am probably one of few that purchased the 2.0L Automatic. I had an incident in 2006 while driving a forklift. I will skip the fun details but share I have no feeling in my left foot and so driving a clutch is less than enjoyable.

You will notice the cobalt was an automatic as well for this same reason.

The sad part is the dealer does not know how to detail a black car. I use Turbowax because it's ph balanced and uses no silicone particles.. first thing the dealer did was swirl the paint to death.

I have also purchased a new HID kit for the fogs to have the color match the 4200k/4300k factory headlights.

One thing i loved in my cobalt is I switched all the lights out for LEDs where I could. I'm debating to do the same with the Acura. The interior is not getting touched, but reverse lights and turn signals will most likely get switched.

the rear interior dome lights are worth considering converting to led...looks weird that there's a mismatch between the front and the back

I will be honest, I am having difficulty with finding all the bulb sizes. I know the Headlights are D2S bulbs. The High Beams are HB3 bulbs and the fogs are H11 bulbs.

I looked in the owners manual but the handy thing just shows wattage.

I wanted to swap the license plate and reverse lights. Also the front and rear turn signals. I wanted to purchase switchback leds for the front turn signals.

I had the same shade on the cobalt, which you can see was in the first post. 6.5 years of the windows being tinted and never once had an issue. Local law enforcement don't mind anymore unless you refuse to roll the windows down when you are pulled over.

yea, I just don't want to risk getting pulled over and having to deal with removing the tints, etc.

Opinions... would these look bad on the silver car? I want to upgrade to 18's and then lower the car on the Eibach prokit when it comes available.

Not too sure how I feel about chrome though.

Here is a better view if someone is able to photochop it...
