Unhappy Trunk close with metal contact noise

Hey guys,

I am new to my 2013 Acura ILX for couple month, and I like it very much

Couple days I discovered that when you close your trunk with a big force (i did it couple times unintentionally) somewhere around the trunk make some wield noise

now you probably have to shut your trunk 3 times with a bit more force than the 4th time you close the trunk hard you will hear the noise such that some metal part is contact with another part

does anyone experience this? would anyone help me to see if they can reproduce the same issue? I talked to my dealership, but they are going to charge me for just have their technician to take a look which does not make any sense since I just got it for 2 months

thanks guys

jenNY

Watch you break whatever the OP broke trying to recreate the sound.

I read the initial post and was like "yeaah i dont think i care to forefully close my trunk to try and recreate the issue the OP is having."

I have a 2014 ILX 2.4 and that noise seems to come from the bottom of my license plate hitting the metal behind it since there are no fastening screws on the bottom of the plate.

I have the same issue. I'm not sure why the car didn't come with 4 holes pre-drilled already?

Hi guys,

Talked to dealer, and the issue was reproduced, they filed a ticket to honda canada

you dont really have to slam the trunk really hard to reproduce, all you have to do is open the trunk fully 90 degree opened, close slightly with a bit force than normal about 3-4 times, and you will hear a plastic contact noise,

btw if you look up the trunk inside upward, did you guys see all the naked metal part without any cover?

anyways if you guys has the same issue, you should have the dealer fix right the way as soon as you can, otherwise they will just say it is for awhile you purchase the car, and they are not responsible for it

There are provisions for self tapping screws at the bottom, I've got two there and it keeps the plate from making noise.

Is this something the dealer/service should provide to me?

I will probably put some sound deadening on my trunk lid, it will help quell some noise, if indeed there is noise coming from the lid itself, and it gives it a bit more weight which will make it close even easier. I had sound deadening through my whole '07 Civic trunk when I installed my system and the trunk was so much easier to close after that, plus the Si's come with a spolier which added some weight also

Yeah, but if not, you could go to any hardware store and pick up two stainless steel screws.
