As an owner of a 2013 model year Acura ILX, we need your participation and feedback.

Acura is pleased to offer you an opportunity to add a new Siri Eyes Free Mode ability into your vehicle free of charge in exchange for your review of the feature. (Availability of this offer expires January 28, 2013.)

Siri Eyes Free Mode integrates the Siri feature into your vehicle, allowing you hands free access to many of the Siri functions through the vehicle’s audio and HandsFreeLink systems without having to handle your iPhone.

Acura is conducting a limited market trial with current 2013 model owners who own an Apple iPhone.

As a part of this trial, Acura will update your ILX with software that will allow the new Siri Eyes Free feature to work in your vehicle.

The update will be installed by your dealer at no cost to you and you are welcome to keep and use the Siri Eyes Free feature after the trial is complete. All we ask from you is participation in an online survey after Siri Eyes Free is installed and you have had a chance to experience the feature.

There has been some compatibility concerns with the iPhone 5 and the ILX. This update will correct these concerns if you qualify for the trial.

To get started, please click on the link below to qualify for the trial. If you qualify, you will receive a welcome letter approximately 48 hours after completing the survey with instructions about how to have the Siri Eyes Free software installed into your vehicle.

The link is definitely unique...but it doesn't expire contingent on the number of completed surveys, which is weird, lol. This "trial" has me wishing I got an iPhone 5. DRAT!

Do any of you guys on the left coast with the beta Siri Eyes Free have feedback on how it's working for you?

if i tap the siri function on my phone.. it already goes through to the car.. it actually works pretty well already. Are they trying to use that function now through the steering wheel controls? I think the way it is now is actually pretty useful

 

I assume it is for a steering wheel button.

What would be great is if they could get airplay to display your phone's screen onto the nav screen.

I rarely find myself using the nav in my car because the functionality of it is so crippled while the car is moving. It would be so much easier to just tell Siri to get me directions for a place by name.

 

I think it's goal is to tie in the Siri for bluetooth via the handsfree you would use as if you're making a call VS streaming via the AUX button. I like the idea of that because I want to use my maps the way some other people have mentioned but I dont want to turn my music off.. In my Tech TSX it would cut into the music when it needed to tell me something. I hope this is how they will tie Siri in.

I am hoping you can use the full range of Siri's ability and maybe some cool add ons without losing radio-play ability..

"Siri, turn my A/C to 68 degrees" my TSX tried to do things like that.. it just couldn't process 90% of what I said lol Siri is definitely better at figuring out what I am telling it.

 

Apparently it adds Siri to your bluetooth buttons. Instead of pushing Acuras Talk button. You hold it for a few seconds, and Siri pops up instead.

 

Is this feature exclusive to the tech package or is it available for the premium as well?
