ILX (Prem) Audio System Quality vs TSX(Prem)

Hi guys:
New to the forum. Picked up my new ILX premium a couple of days ago. Generally love it, but coming from a 2009 TSX premium I notice a dramatic downgrade in audio quality from my previous TSX. Notice this when music from my attached iPod Classic or CD's.
I had assumed that the two Premium trims would have the same quality sound system with comparable specs. Based on what I have heard so far....not the case.
Anyone else have any comments or similar comparisons.
Thanks for any and all feedback !

I think it has a lot to do with the TSX being more insulated. After doing the dynamat in my doors the speakers have worked about as well as my TSX Tech did.

I found the stereo in the TSX to be a little better than the ILX. Wouldn't say their was a drastic difference imo.

Same here, having come from a 2012 tsx (base), I noticed that the sound was a tad worse...but it could be from the insulation, as trent pointed out.

Is the tsx premium an ELS surround sound? And how many speakers? I wonder if the tsx premium is comparable to the ilx tech.

no the tsx premium is just the standard stereo without els. There is an els option in the tech tl. The civic si, ilx, and tsx all share the same basic premium stereo i.e. same amount of speakers and watts.

Hi Guys:
Thanks to all for the feedback and comments. Greatly appreciated !
While the sound is still pretty good I guess it just requires a little getting used to. Perhaps it's the insulation as some suggest.
I've tinkered with the settings, but find that the difference is with the tweeters in the front...and the sub to some degree. Even my wife mentioned it...and she rarely notices these type of things.
Guess I've been spoiled with the great sound I had in the old TSX for the past four years. Anways I have four years with the new ILX to get used to it.

Thanks again for the help !

i noticed my 8th gen si had a better sound system than the ilx which i was surprised of since i thought they were basically the same setup and figured the ilx would have better insulation

Do we have anyone that is able to get the Factory Amplifier Pin-out or wiring diagram?

I found the Amp itself, it is under the front steering wheel tucked up towards the passenger side. I just need to find out which wires belong to the front speakers so I can tap the front speakers for a full range signal.

I owned the 8th gen si and I don't think it sounded any better, especially at full volume. How many miles are on your car? I've noticed my subwoofer and speakers have begun to sound better after 9k miles and during that 9k run, I've played music virtually all the time, lol.

bought new, had 37k when i traded her in, the si seem to me to be abit clearer and with more bass...in the ilx defense, i will admit i didn't get a chance to play with any of the audio settings, all i did was turn it up to max (40 i believe) and it sounded not very premium...

on a side note, i finally did got a chance to drive both an ilx and '13 si recently, both nice cars

I think the ilx system is horrible. My subwoofer/rear driver side speaker blew and the dealer didn't want to change it out. I'm getting tired of no bass music and or that thing fwappin in the back. I might do a diy if I decide to buy some alpine typeR speakers.

The ILX sound is definitely heavy on treble, and I'm generally a treble fan. The DVD-A's sound fantastic, but there aren't that many of them (though I've been able to make a few myself using some high end audio software I own and 192 kbps source material). The iPod sounds pretty good when the songs are ripped at 320 kbps. SiriusXM sounds HORRIBLE, which surprised me.
