Sums up Acura

I am new to the brand since I only drive my ILX but the CSX and CL is just horrible...

http://autophiliac.wordpress.com/201...fall-of-acura/

Please don't f*** up NSX. If they screw that thing up I am selling my ILX. I don't even care about the $5000 I am losing.

Old article, and it was posted before the 2nd gen NSX concept reveal, so we know that Acura *is* moving toward some awesome products in the lineup since it was written. CSX and CL? Not even made anymore.

I'm still crossing fingers for a 6MT V6 coupe like the Legend sometime in the future, but I'm not going to abandon ship and ditch the ILX in the meantime. Having a blast with it . You should do the same.

Edit, thinking this may need to move elsewhere since it's off-topic. If anyone has suggestions let me know.

This is so broad and I have say uneducated in so many ways.. One the auto market is so fierce with competition now more than ever, two Acura's past shouldn't be a black mark on it's present (people act like the Integra was a God car IT WASN'T, IT WAS AFFORDABLE FUN AND SEMI-LUXURY *what is the ILX? Affordable, fun and semi-luxury), the bar is so high! Let's all compare Acura's line up to BMW and Lexus like everyone else wants to.. what's the difference?

An ignorant person would say well the TL is 30-40K so it compares to the I-series Lexus or 1-Series right? NO.
Compare the Lexus IS-250/350 to the ILX and get back to me.. can an Automaker fill every void in the market at once? NO. You want them to be better? Let them Join the 40K club with the ILX.. bet it would be an Auto-critic's dream.. but that means JACK SHIT to the average consumer.. My two cents.

And, the new NSX looks like an incredibly unique addition to the Super-Street-Car class. In my opinion it looks better inside and out than a GT-R (which if I didn't know was a badass car would look pretty whack to me) and that's their target.

This article is selective reasoning to confirm bias. He lists all of the performance attributes of his favorite Acuras but then conveniently leaves out the performance attributes (which are superior to all previous TLs) on the 4th gen TL and instead complains about its looks. Somehow in retrospect the Legend and Integra are now perfect vehicles. I would not be surprised at the time if people were bitching about the same things on the Integra and Legend that they're bitching about now with the ILX and RLX. Objectively, I don't see much difference between what Honda is doing now vs what they were doing before. They're still making economic, reliable, fun cars.

I think this is more brand perception than reality. Since the TL (not the RL) is in reality their flagship, I think the controversial styling of the 4th gen TL soured people on Acura. Get themselves a nice looking 5th gen TLX or whatever and I think brand perception recovers.

They did. The integra was a pos japanese import good reliability and thats it. America HATED on the look with the big eyes. The legend just never got a fan base until it was dead.
Everything is always clearer in hindsight.

Why would the NSX have anything to do with your ILX?

LOL, you don't have to go as far back as the Integra. Look no further than the TSX of both generations. When G1 was announced, people screamed that it was over priced and when 2G debuted, people were now used to G1 and screamed that 2G was too big and bloated and Acura ruined it.

Now, on the cusp of a replacement, I'm sure we'll see the inevitable cries about the 'failure' of Acura 'again'. It's amazing how quickly people forget how much they 'hated' something after some familiarity has set in.

Also, I believe that the ILX is already outselling ANY year of Integra Sedan (only) sales.
