After seeing and test driving the TLX, both 4 and 6 cylinders, and not being much impressed by them; my curiosity has shifted towards the 2016 ILX. The lack of a 6-speed manual in the TLX is what's steering me away most.

There is very little, if any news out there on the 2016 MMC ILX. REALLY hope they do a MUCH better job with the suspension, and deadening the noise in the cabin. That is my biggest gripe with my car.

I would assume the 2016 ilx may lose the manual as well for a similar transmission as the base tlx.
I'm putting my money on them keeping the 2.0 as a base model of maybe just premium since base is gone. Then match the 2.4 with a similar Trans as the 2.5 tlx.

That is my best guess anyways.

What car did you come from before? I ask based on the road noise comment. I can definitely hear what you're talking about but coming from an Integra it's still an improvement for me.
I still want to hit my ilx with the sound dampening foam. I'm just curious if it adds a lot of weight.

Had a 2001 A4 prior to this. Prior to that had a 2005 6-speed TL, and prior to that, a 2001 RSX.

The RSX was made MUCH better than the ILX is, if you ask me. It is also lighter than the ILX and it didn't produce a fraction of the noise the ILX does.

Maybe the 2016 ILX will be more sport oriented to pick up the slack from the TLX moving more towards luxury. That would be cool, especially if they threw a turbo in there, added AWD (which already seems to be confirmed), and left manual as an option. Im not a fan of the current ILX considering what else you could get for the price tag, but it would certainly get my attention.

I'll be looking forward to any future updates on this thing thats for sure.

I hope the rear of the ilx to be squared up and bigger.. current gen looks like a civic and i don't like that... that's why i got a tsx... but i hope acura be more successful onward.

the new head of Acura spoke in an interview the other day and he inferred that Acura will be doing things a little different than Honda because the strategies of the 2 are different. He wants Acura to be a true luxury competitor to Lexus and BMW instead of just an upgraded Honda. That may be good for the ILX. While it is better than the Civic it really is not a competitor to the IS, A3, CLA, or 3 Series that are all similarly sized luxury vehicles.

Maybe its just me, but is anyone else thinking those are 18's? Appear to be wider as well. I'm not a fan of that wheel color tho, design is cool/ok, but would look better/ could make a better judgement in some other finish...

Woooow. There is a lot going on here.

New Jewel eyes obviously.
Grill is changed, little more aerodynamic and sleeker.
Lower air dams are more angular like the civic coupe and match the rear
Center air dam looks wider as well.

Wheels look like 18s to me.

Sideskirts maybe.

Tailights look the same.
Spoiler or altered trunk.
Lower side valance look similar to the civic coupe as well..

Those black lower air dams but in the rear.

I for one am happy with it.

Id change the front bumper, maybe the rear, not sold there yet.
Its not any kind of crazy improvement as I love how the ILX looks already. But this is definitely a good MMC.

I'm very glad to see Acura is taking action, and attempting to make ILX more competitive with vehicles like the Buick Verano and MB CLA.

My 2016 ILX MMC Wishlist:
-LEDs front and rear, more aggressive body and front and rear end
-Updated interior styling with all the new Acura in-dash and driver assistance tech.
-Turbo I4 DI/VCM, Low 30sMPG and 240bhb
-Slightly lower price on the sticker
-More interior features, Lane Watch, Power Passenger Seat, Cooled Seats(as a high trim option)
-Updated to 7 Speed Transmission(5 isn't cutting it)
-Car needs to feel a class above current Accord.

I predicted that front fascia! lol

-TLX taillight styling in the new taillights it looks like. Look close!
-No beak, SUV-X grill!!!
-Aggressive bumpers (Still no exhaust)
-Jewel Eyes
-Integrated Deck lid spoiler?
-Side skirt?
-Likely major quality improvement inside and better power trains and more tech.
-Those look like 18" wheels, and yes they are most definitely wider. Which makes me wonder... why is Acura putting such wide tires on a Civic-Based car, especially when they're all about fuel economy? Could this be..... a SH-AWD equipped 1.5LT ????

lol nah. Stop Dillon.

But yeah, I might beg mom to go buy an '16 ILX now. She already likes the 13-15's.

Also that wheel design doesn't bother me, as long as the black inserts aren't gloss black it won't look cheap. Definitely a lot of Civic Coupe styling. Still no mirror indicators.

Bravo Acura! Proud of you, a very respectful MMC. Now keep the ball rolling with let us know what engines and trans it has and what new tech there is!

Yeah, LEDs are clearly coming for the front. I doubt we'd see rear LEDs but hopefully a LED lightpipe like the TLX.

IMO, Turbo 4 is less than 20% chance of happening, more likely the DI 2.4 across the board with 6MT or 8DCT. Another 20% chance is that the automatic switches to a CVT instead of DCT. (I know of no 7-speed for this class of car in the Honda inventory for non-hybrids)

Lanewatch seems to be a Honda only feature, but I'd love to see the same Blind Spot Monitors as in the TLX on the Tech Package. With more power for the automatic, I could see a power passenger seat making the cut, and hopefully seat memory for the driver. No chance of cooled seats unless they do an Advance Package.

Also, no chance of a lower sticker, if the add the right things, the value will match the current pricing ok.

You nailed it really nice Timmy! Props to you!
Very nice they move to a new grille design!!

Man I see some fat low profile tires in there and car sits so low! Aggressive rear bumper, I say this is a Sport model with a turbo engine?!

Notice the un-taped portion on the grille. Acura is recommending people not put things like protection film on the grille because it could interfere with the radar located behind it. That untaped portion on the ILX grille is where the radar is located on the TLX. The ACC/LSF and CMBS share that radar. Both of those systems are found only on the Advance package on the TLX ... just wild-ass guessing ...

-Turbo I4 DI/VCM, Low 30sMPG and 240bhb? Dude Are you serious? I get 25.6 MPG with an I/H/E setup on the Manual 6-speed K24. MAYBE close to 200WHP, and you want low 30's MPG on a turbo with 240bhb? So WHP maybe like 200-210? And you want that breakthrough in tech to be at a LOWER sticker price? Honestly, that's just unrealistic. For now.

I will say that before the mods, and driving EXTREMELY grandma style, it did get 30mpg on the dot. But I didn't buy a stick shift to drive like a grandma, and I'm pretty sure NO ONE who is buying a sporty turbo car is hoping to drive like a grandma either.

That is an extremely good catch! They talked about it with the TLX. Wow, the ILX will most deff have the Advanced trim! This is great news. Very proud of Acura for fixing their mistake. Now if only a Coupe (CLX) will come sooner.

Some of the speculation (if true) shows why the MMC didn't come sooner. They would want to get most of this stuff out in the TLX first!

It's almost certain that the top edge will match existing since they wouldn't want to cast a new hood or fenders. No guarantees on the bumper lines matching existing though. These lights will probably be ridiculously expensive. Probably cheaper to buy a new ILX and take the depreciation hit IMO.

Hope to see a similar schedule to the TLX where we get a reveal late 2014/early 2015 for a summer release.

I am really hoping that this time around 2016 ILX with 6-speed will have Tech package available as an option that offers similar content as the one on TLX and has more than one (black) interior color choice (for 6-speed).

I feel firm and silly with this but:

2.4 8DCT or 6-speed manual (Accord Trans)
FWD P-AWS

2.0 VTEC Turbo 8DCT or 6-speed manual (Accord trans again)
SH-AWD

The SH-AWD, P-AWS and 6 speed are all very unlikely, even the Turbo... but The POWER OF ME DREAMSSSSS

Oh, and:

2.4L = 206HP, 182LB-FT (TLX copy)

2.0L = 260HP, 280LB-FT (Lower tune from '15 Type-R)

Respectively.

Saw this tidbit about the 2016 ILX here: Refreshed 2016 Acura ILX To Debut In Los Angeles

Looks like it's getting at least new tail lights! I'm sure others with better eyes for details than me will spot more out of this picture.

Some different wording here. http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2016...auto-show.html

Potent new powertrain is what I'm excited about!

Lightbulb Press Release

Acura is preparing to unveil a substantially new 2016 ILX at the L.A. Auto Show next month as the brand aims to raise the stakes again in the entry-premium sedan segment. Already bringing in more buyers under the age of 35 to the segment than any other entry-premium model, the new 2016 ILX stands to solidify and broaden its appeal with a comprehensive update that includes a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling, and substantially upgraded interior design.

Much like its hot new stable mate—the brand new TLX—the 2016 ILX will bring a sharper performance focus while delivering a greater set of high-value comfort, convenience and safety features that consumers desire in the increasingly competitive entry-luxury field.

Catch the unveiling of the ILX on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Acura booth at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Oooooooo those tail lights look sexy!! Not sure about the lower rear segment yet. Hopefully I can swap those tails and leave my rear bumper.

EDIT: Looking above at the white 2015 MMC SPY the rear looks like the new dark image acura released. The white ILX shows clearly the rear section is identical where the trunk/bumper/tail lights meet. Meaning the lights AND bumper should be an easy swap... as well as a new spoiler if they make one.. looks like they did.

As well the front look very similar where the bumper meets the grill and headlights so Id venture that, like the integra before it, the new gen changes will be interchangeable with the current gen pieces.

This is awesome because I personally would swap the head lights and tail lights and leave the bumpers as is. With a new grill, front and rear bumper, now different combination will be possible... though these parts will be OEM and cost.

A little concerned about the mention of 'powertrain' and not powertrains. Does this means that the 6MT continues unchanged? Does this mean that the AT goes to DI or have they mated the 8DCT or CVT to the current port injected engine? Is there no improved Hybrid for 2016?

I think Acura's main focus is to improve the performance of the automatic model. 2.4 DCT from TLX in a ILX should be fast enough.
