Just. Did a 3000+ trip across the rocky's very comfortable, no problem cruising at 75-80 mph up mountains, averaged 36.1 mpg. Would of been better but head winds through Kansas, Okla., Texas and New Mexico knocked my average down about 1 mpg on the way home to Vegas.

Looks like the only thing the TLX will see from the TSX is the badge's X. "Merging" the two seems like that's a nice way of saying "sorry, were killing the TSX."

Unless it has TSX gauges or something, the body looks like a TL.

I think it's sitting on a whole new platform. The TSX was in a weird space with the introduction of the ILX. Best bet would've been to push the TL a little further upmarket, since the RLX hits nearly 60k in fully optioned fwd form, and then keep the TSX.

The TSX name wouldn't fit in with the sedan nomenclature. Everything is now "_LX".

Sedans: ILX, TLX, RLX... SUV's: RDX, MDX, ZDX...

Can't re-use SLX, that was a 90's SUV from Acura. Could use CLX, but would rather leave that for a Coupe styled between the ILX and TLX.. but it has the sedan "_LX" nomenclature.

Can't use "_SX" for coupes since CSX was a Sedan in Canada.. TSX is a current sedan.. ESX sounds weird.. NSX is the halo super car..

Though I could see in the future 4 sedans, 2 coupes, and 2 SUV's (Though I want the ZDX name to stay, maybe it would be revived after a few years?)

-ILX
-CLX
-TLX
-RLX

-RDX
-MDX
-ZDX
..
-CSX
-NSX

LX=Sedans
DX=SUV/Cross overs
SX=Coupes/ 2 doors

IDK.. Acura really is screwing it's self on the naming. I don't have a problem with the 3 letter naming or with actual words. What I have a problem with is how they don't keep things consistent, don't plan things out to last with the model its supposed to represent.

You're pretty close.
This is what I'm pretty sure is fact.
First, Acura decided to leave behind the naming of their cars by real words when the Integra and Legend became known only as their individual name, not an ACURA Integra or ACURA Legend.

This is going to be fun so bare with and Im open to being wrong. lol

L = Luxury
S = Sport
X = Experimental
but
DX = Dimensional Cross(-Trainer)

Not so sure about:
C = Coupe
R = Road
N = New
T = Touring

So...
RL = Road Luxury
RLX = Road Luxury Experimental
ILX = Intelligent Luxury Experimental
TL = Touring Luxury
TLX = Touring Luxury Experimental
CL = Coupe Luxury
MDX = Multi-Dimensional Cross-Trainer
CSX = Coupe Sport Experimental
RSX = Road Sport Experimental
NSX = New Sport Experimental
TSX = Touring Sport Experimental

MDX and RDX seems odd but the MDX had an official Acura statement about what it meant so MDX is fact. Road-Dimensional Cross sounds dumb... But then again so does Road Luxury for RL but I can see the appeal back when the RL first debuted. Only other one Im not sure on is the RSX. Road Sport Experimental sounds yet again weird. NSX had a press release I believe stating that N = New. Again, weird.

CSX = Coupe Sport Experimental.. the "COUPE" in this makes NO SENSE because the CSX was a Civic Sedan with a Acura beak... There wasn't even a Coupe version of the CSX.

But if CSX = Coupe Sport Experimental was implying to my list where _SX did mean it was a Coupe then it would make perfect sense. But the only CSX there ever was, was in Sedan form and was limited to Canada.

And why is TLX and RLX 'eXperimentals' if TL and RL came before them as non- experimentals? Why wasn't there a TS before the TSX? You see?

Or why NSX was brought up in '90, SLX in '95? And then RL, TL and CL all in '96-'98 time frame, while Legend and Vigor was around and the Integra still existed till 2001?

Granted, The Vigor and Legend got new names when their platform lifespans were over, but why was SLX and NSX names ever thought of?

It all justifys how ass backwards Acura names their cars sometimes. They've been confused since day one.

I like both naming ways. Just wish Acura would clean it up, and make everything parallel.

Through the years, some of the nomenclature for the abbreviations have changed or have been modified. I started with Acura back when the first of the "letter cars" started to appear. Here is the gospel truth from all that I can remember.

NSX = New Sports Experimental
TL = Touring Luxury
CL = Contemporary Luxury
RL = Road Luxury (also occasionally called Refined Luxury)
MDX = Multi Dimensional Crossover

It was around this time that Acura started suggesting that cars ending in the letter "L" were more luxury oriented. Where as cars ending in the letter "X" were "sports and specialty models"

RSX = I don't recall it ever officially being named, but "RS" usually stood for Rally Sport
TSX = same with above, generally accepted as Touring Sport
RDX = If there was an official name for this abbreviation, I don't recall.

AAh. You are right about the csx. Didnt know what they were. And experimental just means knew tech. Doesnt change the fact of what the. X stands for. The x is fact experimental unless in an rdx or mdx.

Im not sure your questions regarding dates have answers. But its known that acura changed its names to initials for marketing purposes. Just took time to get everything where it needed to be.

Once the tsx is gone all the lettering will be uniform.

I believe Mr 500,000+ (4cruzin) pointed this out in his latest Drive to Five post.

"My favorite comment was during the acceleration test when the narrator claimed the Maxima had better performance because it “powered ahead of the Lexus, the Mercedes, and the Legend.” Notice that he didn't say “the Acura.” This exact point is why Acura abandoned the Legend nameplate in favor of the alphanumeric “RL” name. People were associating the car with the name “Legend” more than with the name Acura."

He's spot on, too.

If only it would fit I would pick it up from you. Sad to hear your not keeping it.

I am really tempted at this point to forget the Pro-Kit springs i bought and pickup some Sportlines.

I have a 2.0L as i don't have feeling in my left foot. They didn't make the 2.4L with an automatic so I settled for the 2.0L with plans to boost it next year with the R18 turbo kit for the civics.

Well Pro-Kit Springs are on. Took me about 3 hours total. Car rides slightly stiffer than stock springs so handling is great!! It's not bouncy and looks great. I will have pictures up tomorrow. There is about a 1.5 finger gap front and back.

I also took the muffler section off the car tonight to see how well the resonator does. I have to admit besides the horrible drone in the car the resonator doesn't do a horrible job. I'm going to weld up my dual exhaust probably Friday and see how it sounds with just the resonator (sorry earth) and then if needed I will add the muffler in it's place.

^can't wait to see everything. I don't really trust these shocks so I'd rather go with the hfp suspension. I'm hoping I want ruin them by putting it on a car that weighs 100lbs more

Only Picture I got to snag today before the phone died. I can still clear my curb without issue, but I think once the rest of the mods go on I will have trouble.

why does the front bumper and rear bumper need to be replaced? why not just one? Also, dealer told me good luck trying to get rid of my 6-mt with damage on it. He said trade-in value on these high-lines get squashed on repair. Sucks because this is the first car where I've ever had considerably damage done to it

Aaaaw. Was it folded up or in a big box in the right shape? Ive heard of people receiving them folded but both times ive been lucky. My lip wasnt immaculate but you cant see anything standing or even crouching while next to it.

Get a picture of it uploaded!

Exhaust has been an utter nightmare, but it's almost done. Waiting for one more pipe and i'm done with it.

Having to modify the spare tire well just slightly in order to get the pipe to sit without ratteling.

ok so in the manual it shows reference to having a TPMS.

Does it come base/standard or is that only on the premium or tech package?

Thanks in advance

Thanks

TPMS is all cars, though it's not an active system (in other words it doesn't provide you with the readouts, only tells you when tires are under inflated). This is certain in the US. Not sure about Canada because they're laws aren't as strict with tpms.... sorry if that doesn't help.
