Tweeter bailing several markets

Just an FYI in case there's some bargains to be had for those of you in the affected areas.

Tweeter's plan includes closing 49 stores, two regional facilities, and exiting certain regions of the country. The Company will close all of its stores in California, Tennessee, Alabama, New York, and most of Georgia within two to three months, resulting in layoffs of approximately 20% of its total company personnel.

I never really got Tweeter. They were trying to sell mid+ level equipment while trying to act like they were selling high end.

what a waste.

they're selling shit for higher prices then they were before they were going out of business!

they're selling the TV i bought 5 months ago for $100 more then i paid, despite a liquidation tag.

tweeter is a joke. they should close the rest of their stores.

I never found anything at tweeter that wasn't at CC and BB.

Besides, I buy everything off the web and save $$$

Well, Tweeter does sell alot of stuff that neither BB or CC do. For example, my XBR3.

But by and large they are irrelevant.

nope. neither BB or CC carry the XBR3. just the XBR2.

i got my XBR3 from Tweeter for cheaper then they were charging for the XBR2 at Circuit City next door. it was on sale though.

thats why the Tweeter here is going out of business. why in the hell they put it 100ft from a Circuit City and across the street from a Best Buy is beyond me. they just can't compete on price for the most part.

I gotta agree that Tweeter is pretty much a joke. My local stores used to all be a chain called "United Audio Center" that, while not high end, were fairly respectable until Tweeter acquired them.

Every time I showed interest in a component at Tweeter and asked for a discount from retail I ALWAYS was told NO. So, I shopped elsewhere.
