Is this TV right for the price?
Is this TV right for the price?
I am getting very close to buying a HDTV, and am leaning towards a Samsung. Sears seems to have some good prices and offer no interest until 2010. I would like to keep it under $2000 and think I have decided on this TV unless someone has some other opinions or advice otherwise.

In store price is $1789.99 on the LN-T4065f
I have no experience in HD and have little knowledge of what I should be looking for. What do you think?

Best Buy had the LN-T4066F (similar tv) for $1099 two weeks ago. They also had $100 off any Toshiba HD DVD player plus 10 free movies. (Two in the box, pick any three in store, and mail off for five. I'd wait for a sale.

I also can not find the 46" 4665f for less than $2000. So if you could find a link it would be helpful, but I dont think you will be able to.

$1749.98 with free shipping and Amazon has 18-month no interest, no payment financing.
OR:

$1929.99 - $75 coupon = $1854.99 with free shipping.
Considering you probably have to pay sales tax if you buy at Sears, you probably end up paying less.

A better price, a price I'd consider paying, would be $1099... which is what that model continually sells for. I would be you could get as low as $998 with just a little shopping around at the smaller e-Tail shops.
As for dynamic contrast ratios, that number is almost completely meaningless. Last years Samsung 2500:1 TV's look nearly as good as their 15000:1 TV's, it's hardly a night and day difference and definately not worth the price premium.
Look for static ratios for a more realistic comparison, but even then keep in mind that in a dark room there's very little difference between displays with a contrast ratio of say... 1,000:1 and say 10,000:1. Samsung's latest LED backed displays are claiming 100,000:1.
My only advice is that the Sammy is a great set, but garbage in is still garbage out. If you cable provider or sat provider isn't that great on HDTV, you're not getting the most from the set.
Check and see what boxes are available. The Moto Moxie rocks.

another thing to consider is that the 65 series uses a reflective panel, more reflective than even some plasmas on the market. The 61 series is the matte finish panel in samsungs current line of lcds.

If I were to buy an LCD, I'd get a Samsung.

This is the same site I bought my Samsung from. The price includes tax + free shipping.

I went with the 4665 from Amazon a couple months ago. $2025 (back then) with no tax, free delivery.
