Time Warner Cable Dilemma

Just moved into a new place a month ago.

Right now, I'm paying $29.99 for 5mb internet service. It's pretty slow.

Yesterday, I got a call from TWC sales rep and got offered this deal.

$29.99 (Current fee) + $29.99 will get me 10mb internet service with 300 channel cable TV with no contract on the cable TV only. The installation of cable TV will be free.

I asked the sale rep to send this info via email, but he said it's one of those limited promotion for people who just moved into a new place and ordered TWC internet service, so he's not allow to email this out.

Did anyone has gotten this call?

I always wanted to have cable tv, since I love watching ESPN channels, but always got turned off by the fact that the promotion rate literally gets tripled on the 2nd year of contract.

If it's $60/month for both internet and cable tv, I'm willing to pay. But i'm just worried about this limited promotion only via phone.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

Yah sometimes there are deals like that BUT, i would get his name and ID # if he has one. Then you can call TWC back and ask for the same deal just to verify if the deal is legit.

If they can do it after you call them back, then good for you.

I hate TWC, Adelphia was 100X better. Now i rather pay more than dealing with them. when i had TWC the average wait time was 40 mins to 1 hour when i call. Direct TV FTW

Hate hate hate TW....if my community didnt have some stupid contract with them, which builds my net/cable into my HoA fees, I wouldnt ever use them. Nothing but problems.

I hate them so much...my wireless network is "Time Warner Sucks Balls"

Yeah.. I hate them too.. but it's the only option on this new condo unit. Sucks!

I know the sales rep's name, so I'll call TWC to verify his identity and the promotion.

I lived in a community that contracted with TW when I lived in Costa Mesa and they're generally terrible - I guess the upside is they are cheaper then other cable companies.

I live in Irvine now and I have to use Cox... who's just as terrible IMO and I pay 25% more than what I paid TW :grumble:

Get it in writing, because it's virtually guaranteed they'll try to stick you with an installation charge.

FWIW, I ditched TWC altogether. Have an OTA antenna plus Netflix and Hulu+. Pay $34.99/mo for internet, and that's it to TWC...

I'll admit I miss ESPN a bit, but I still have ESPN.com and espn3.com...

We just moved to South Pasadena. Got sick of downtown!

We used to have this local internet provider called Aerioconnect. They are super cheap and great.

I asked for this, and the sales rep said it's one of those phone only promotion crap, so he can't email me anything.

That's when I thought it was a little weird.
