I looked into U Verse....here were my problems with it.
(as a result I stayed with DirecTV)

U Verse HD picture quality is not the greatest.

Depending on your area, you can only record/watch 1-HD channel at a time.....this really kills U Verse.

No Versus HD, No NHL network HD.

Had a customer wait a few months to get their hd channels activated with Uverse. They called a dozen times at least, were told they were turned on and would be active in an hour or two. Took about 3 months. No thanks.

There's a post about U-Verse on AZ somewhere. Biggest problem was the number of tuners in the house. I think you can only watch one show in all the TV's in the house.

U-verse is done over copper and some houses can't get it b/c they are too far away from the VRAD (over 1800ft, you'll probably need pair bond). Currently you can record up to 4 programs, but you can only record one HD program at one time. You get one DVR, but can get multiple set top boxes that can be networked to the main DVR, so you can watch recorded programs in any room that is networked to the DVR. Picture quality isn't 100% HD but it is digital IP based (IPTV). Certain special programs will allow you to chose different camera angles during sporting events. Sometimes it takes a Premise Tech over 8 hours to install the service.

I work for AT&T and can't even get it at my house because I am over 3000ft away from the VRAD and will need pair bonding to get the signal to my house at an acceptable signal strength. So I am stuck using Time Warner Cable and getting raped every month! $140 for digital cable and internet??? That's too much!

Read what he said. He said he heard you can watch only one program in the whole house at a time. That is not true.

One HD program at a time? I read this.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...95&postcount=4

I forgot to add that if you are watching an HD feed in one room, and someone in another room wants to watch another HD feed, they can't. Only 1 HD feed at a time regardless of how many receivers.

Again this is supposed to be addressed....but when? Who knows.

My family members claim the customer service is very good.

I checked w/U-Verse, and I can watch 2 diff. HD streams in the house simultaneously, and record up to 4 programs at once, 2 HD, 2 SD...that may not be offered nationwide though

Just to touch on this. Apparently in Chicago you can watch 2 HD and record 2 HD and 2 SD. According to the guy on the AT&T's website chat service.

I'd def check with other customers. avsforum has a local section for major markets. I'm sure there are plenty there with UVerse in Chicago.
