Sharp 46 inch LCD 1080P GOOD DEAL?

I got someone locally who bought it and decided to sell it instead of open it and it costs him more to ship it back, so he is selling it for $1800, is the price worth it, or should I get something else in the price range and from a store so I can return it, he does have the receipt and it is brand new SEALED!

It is a Sharp lc-46d62u, some of the Online Reviews say it had a Band Problem, where Green band lines show up on the screen, but I was wondering what you guys think of this price and particular model? Thanks

The Sharp is a nice TV if you get one without the banding issue. But for the same price, you can get the newer 46d72 model. Personally, I like the Samsung LCDs better, but they are more expensive.

I just got the 42'' version on Friday and love it. The picture is great and if you don't have a surround sound system the simulated surround mode on the TV works really well. $1800 is a great price, I paid $1500 for the 42" at frys.com

The newer models have a higher refresh rate (less blur especially with fast motion such as sporting events) and the newer generation panel, so it's basically going to have better blacks, better color and better contrast.

Now, I haven't actually seen the 72u in person because I've decided to either get the new Samsung LCD (4665f) or the new Pioneer plasma (5080).

Hmmm ... you're right. When I was looking several weeks ago, I saw the 72Us, but it seems the 82s and 92s are all retailers carry. In that case, the one your friend is selling is a pretty good deal.

Samsung 46" LCD's: 4661 for $2176 shipped or 4665 for $2357 shipped @amazon.com.

Personally I would pay the extra $500 or so. Sharp is known for their banding issues.

As you already know...I have a Samsung LCD, but I think you should get it... When it comes to TV's Sharp makes nothing but LCD's (no plasmas or DLP's)... I'm sure theire doing something right

Furthermore, the LN-T4665F I recently bought was rated very high by CNET. The only reason it didn't make Editor's choice was the glossy screen, which they say is too reflective, which I don't experience. Otherwise, they say its the best LCD they've seen and rivals Pioneer Elite's Plasma.

I was set on getting the Pioneer 5070 until I was the Samsung 4665. Incredible picture, but now that the Pioneer 5080 has been released and is selling for about $2500, I have to take a look at that now.

And I haven't heard complaints about Samsung's reliability.

Have you looked into the new Philips LCD's. We just got the one that came out most recently, 47" 1080p with amblight. You should definitely check it out

The first year DLP's had some issues, including a squeaky color wheel and the screen smudges, but both of those have been rectified. Fewer moving parts now.

I just looked at the Samsung 4665 next to a Phillips and a Sharp and the difference is very noticeable. So $1800 is a good price for that TV, but IMO not good money spent for 1080p LCD quality.

And what is with Best Buy? They have their TV's connected via coax. They had a Sony XBR signal split so bad, it might as well have had rabbit ears. They had the 4665 for $3000 and you couldn't even finance it for less than 12% APR. Why do people buy from them?

I have a 23 Inch Phillips HD LCD in my room, not too impressed with it, hate the remote, hate the menus, hate the way it acts sometimes, Dont ge tme wrong its a great tv, I love it, but I would rather get something else other than Phillips, unless the price is a really good bargain, which is why I got this one

I've always wondered about those... especially with a gaming system... I'm thinking the experience would be awesome but might cause me to feel dizzy after awhile cuz of the effect. But still curious with the amblight feature

^ the ambilight is just noticeable enough to be cool. I didn't find it distracting at all.

With gaming you don't notice it as much as opposed to watching a movie. I don't know if I could go back to a tv that doesn't have ambilight. It makes the viewing pleasure that much greater.
