Samsung DLP problem!
Samsung DLP problem!
So my brother and his GF come by and we were watching the World Series...and he notices a spot on my screen. To my, it looks like what ever makes the screen black (film or some sort of transparent paint) is thin in the lower center of the screen. I bought the 4 year replacement warranty, so they are coming out to try and fix it, and if they can fix it on the spot, I get a new TV.

That sucks then. I would bet it's a piece of dust on your sphere of mirrors if not a smudge on the inside of your screen. There is a way to remove the screws and look inside from the top to see what I'm talking about, but if you're under warranty don't bother.

I encounter the same problems with my Samsung DLP as well, but I'm not very nit picky about this stuff, so I just let it be there. Doesn't bother me much. But definitely get it checked out through warranty. Maybe I should do the same.
hope they can fix it... (I have a DLP too... I think the same model... the one that's on a pedistal, right?) If not, get the Mitsu. DLP 1080P, that thing is SICK! (and I've never been a Mitsu. TV fan in the past)
They checked it out and said its a smudge on the inside of the screen....they ordered me a new screen assembly. I turned down the contrast 10 point and you can barely notice it. They said it takes 7 to 10 days to get the part.
They replaced the screen on saturday....and the spot is still there. Now they are replacing the entire DLP engine.....and if that doesn't fix it, I get a new TV. WTF!

So they won't give me a new TV, but they'll replace the screen, the DLP engine and bulb. The only thing that isn't new the the back of the TV! SO...its another 7-10 days for the "possible" fix!

I paid $1800 for it 1.5 years ago...the replacement is selling for $1350....I'd say that covers depreciation and is fair for an exchange.

How do you like the LCD in the bedroom? Better than the DLP?
