Projector, huge led or giant DLP?

We are getting ready to close on a new (to us) home with a media room. Right now the room is a blank slate. I will be purchasing in the next few months and upgrading my current equipment in my present home. I am wondering what everybody thinks what is proper in best for more of a dedicated media room. I currently have a 55" Sammy LCD that will go in there for a while. I will be pgrading to either a projector, sharp 80" led of maybe a mitsubishi 80-92" dlp. Any recommendations on what's the best technology?

The room as it is currently with the sellers mish-mash of furniture:

It really sucks that there is a door in that wall. Behind there is a small exercise/storage room, maybe 8x 10-12 ft. I suppose I could maybe try to make it into some sort of hidden door or at least paint it the color of the room to blend it in.

Sharp is coming out with their new 2012 line soon. The 80" will have 3D. Probably the most expensive option out of your choices, but I'd go that route over the others.

Sharp 80" is the way to go - I almost bought the 70" but realized my living room was too small - so I went with a Sammy 60" LED

I am watching my 70" right now and it already seems small. You see the box and you but quickly get used to the size.

Other thing is, what are you going to do about audio? In-walls, on-walls? You'll need space for something on the sides and below the TV.

It's a shame the door is there. It could have been a nice space to do a projection system with a Acoustically Transparent screen, with in-wall speakers behind. The door will result in shifting everything over left no matter what way you go.

I have some Definitive Technology mythos speakers that I have mounted on the wall in my current home. I will put these on stands for a while and eventually I will get some nice towers I guess and use the def techs as rears. I really need to figure out something to do with the door. Maybe close in the door and make some sort of small enough to crawl through space to access the storage room behind if needed. I figure at the least I could get the 80" and mount it on the wall favoring the door and put some nice towers in the corners and paint the door and trim to blend into the wall. Or maybe i could get a smaller custom door made to fit all the way in the right hand corner. Here is a pic of my setup in my current place.

Looks like the new Sharp 80 with 3d is the winner. About to pull the trigger

Please write a review if you can about it. I've never been a fan of 3D technology so I wonder how a home setup on such a large TV works.

We are gettin there more and more. Got everything hooked up, i just need to calibrate the sound, sounds awesome straight out of the box. Those def tech bipolar towers each have a 12" woofer and plus I have another Boston Acoustics 12" 1000 watt sub. Got a new bigger center channel (mythos 10) and my old fronts are now my rears. Gotta do some wire management on the towers but it is hard because they have their own power. Got a new Pioneer elite receiver. I like it much better so far than my previous Denon.

Very nice.

You need to let everything break in before you start calibrating....run the speakers for about 80 hours. Not sure about the TV.

but I would defer to audi2001 for all that

Very nice, I love my Pioneer receiver. Good to know about breaking in the speakers before calibration, I didn't know that.
