Power Protection

I know there are many schools of thought on this, but I have two distinct issues that bring to me to the brink of a purchase.

Issue #1: I need a AVR/UPS, since for some reason, when my AC unit comes on, there is a noticeable enough dip in the line to 'occasionally' shut down my girlishly sensitive 52" LCD.

Issue #2: I need stated "Lightning" protection, not just a arbitrary joule value, since summers in Phoenix have more lightning than, well, places that have a lot of lightning....

SO, I am only planning on plugging in a 52" LCD, DVD player, receiver, and cable HD/DVR. I have no external amps, and the sub can fend for itself...

Again, must have AVR and "lightning" protection. Suggestions?

APC, Panamax, Belkin, (ugh) Monster, Tripp, CyberPower...

I have a MOnster Cable power supply and I love it.

It also reduces the amount of back current you get from a standard plug in surge protector.(noise reduction )

I would go with APC J type. I'd recommend Panamax, but they don't offer any battery backup.

I am not entirely sure I need the battery backup, since I could care less if my DVR doesn't record the news for one night, etc..

Is the battery required for AVR?

Looks like Belkin PureAV may prevail.

5500J and a 40 minute battery backup...

Give it a day or two to calm down. That could just be from the initial charge cycle.

Sorry to thread highjack, I have a Furman AC line conditioner for my 50"Pioneer Elite and come home to find the power light blinking from time to time. Not sure if this is something that others experience or if this is common among others with this type of surge protectors.

Cool. The APC I have for my home computers did that when I first got it.

That Belkin looks nice, where did you get yours? I need something for my AV gear.

I have a couple of APC's with battery backup. On on my main TV and the other on my main PC. I put my old power strips in all my bedrooms for the TV's. I lost my 2 CRT TV's a few weeks ago due to lightning.

I picked up the Belkin at Fry's for $150-ish. It combined the AVR and the battery, which is nice. My unit is only 640W, but I tested it under load and it can handle all the items connected, including the sub with some room to spare! It definitely takes care of minor voltage irregularities, like when the central air comes on... I don't have a separate amp for my HT, which is good because that would probably put it over the capacity...

I have a APC UPS2200 on my stuff. Huge 90+lbs battery backup. We used them in our office.
1 for my stereo/TV, another for my PC.

And it finally died in last night's power outage. Funny thing is, all the components connected to it were off except the cable/DVR box.

I unplugged the batteries, re-connected them and still nothing when I plug it in. No front panel lights, nothing...

Thinking about just getting a https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00429N192...oding=UTF8&me= to replace it. Might not look as pretty but it will work (hopefully).

WHOA, the link in my previous post CHANGED after I posted... Was originally to an Amazon Cyberpower UPS. I never even searched for the item linked there so I have no idea how that appeared...

It changed to the walmart one, then changed back. Do a CTRL-R and see what appears now.
