If I was in the market for an audio system at this point I'd buy a sound bar over a discrete system. Unless your whole room is set up for the benefits of a discrete system, you won't be able to tell.
I'm partial to Klipsch audio but I have a Sony one for my upstairs TV that works great. It's a sound bar plus subwoofer. Sonos is also great and you can occasionally get Bose on sale.

If you want just 2.0.. Edifier has several options, but I'd recommend the 1850s because they have optical and even a sub out if you want to add a sub of your choice later.
Here's a tear down of the 1700 which is essentially the 1850s, but less IO. Very good quality.

There are several soundbars out there that are decent, but compared to decent amplified bookshelf speakers.. can't compare.

If all you do is watch sitcoms on a laugh track at moderate volumes.. get the cheapest and most convenient setup you can.
But if you watch dramatic shows and movies with a broad sound stage and music.. there's a big difference.

You could have decent tweeter and drivers, but the design of the box out of shit composite or plastic won't do sound quality justice.
Like I said, there's a big difference.

Also, the cheap soundbars that come with a sub are terrible. None of them have proper crossovers so that your dialogue gets pushed through the sub as well as the soundbar. This greatly muddies the sound and makes it harder to make out sound, especially those with diminishing hearing.

In tweet, Samsung recommends scanning QLED TVs for viruses
June 17, 2019
Nearly anything that connects to the internet can be hacked. And that includes Samsung's QLED TVs.
In a tweet, Samsung US support account shared a video Sunday outlining how users can scan their smart TVs for viruses. It is unclear what prompted the tweet or why the process seems to be opt-in as opposed to the operating system automatically scanning for viruses in the background.
Samsung did not immediately respond to a CNET request for comment.

Figured I'd post some jobs of ours from time to time here. This is a theater we did a month ago. Client moved and wanted to utilize his larger in room speakers, so we came up with a plan to use them while keeping things hidden and neat. There was a built in cabinet that housed a TV in the basement where they wanted the theater. I suggested we remove this, creating the perfect spot fo the theater. We prewired the system for 7.1 and partially closed up the open pocket. This was painted black (wires you see in the pics area actually pre-existing wires that was simply not removed). We placed his front speakers, center channel, and subwoofer in this pocket. We then placed a 133" Acoustically Transparent screen over the pocket. The molding was extended to mate up to the screen. The speakers are powered by a Yamaha Pre/Pro system, controlled via Control4. Projector is a Epson Pro Cinema 6050UB. The 4 ceiling speakers we added are Origin Acoustic 8" ceiling surround speakers. I forget at this time what brand speakers the client provided. They system sounds great and provided the nice clean look we were going for.
