Best 26" HD LCD???

I'm looking to buy one, not sure with which brand/model to go... my requirements are HDMI/DVI hookup and a high contrast ratio, at least 1000:1. I don't care if the built-in speakers suck, I just want a great picture from HD channels. Any suggestions?

for LCD's I like the Sony Bravia S-Series, but I don't think they have a 26", I think 32" is the smallest...

but I'm pretty sure Samsung has a really (REALLY) nice one around 26"...
(I like Sammy's just as much...)

They do have Sony Bravia in 26" but I wasn't very impressed with it at the store and I think it's overpriced compared to similar LCDs. I have a Samsung right now and the quality of HDTV channels is nice except it's kinda grainy no matter how I tweak the settings so I want to exchange this one for something that will give me a pure, CLEAR picture.

Well, another vote for the Sammy. I have a Sammy DLP and Plasma, and the pictures on both are just sick.

One question though... why a 26" LCD? Are you limited by space? Seems like kind of a waste to watch HD on such a small screen...

maybe you are in fact limited by space but if you aren't why not spend just a little bit more to get a nice size. If your not limited by space and you buy a 26" I'm sure that you'll be regretting not buying a bigger lcd.

An article on yahoo about the diminishing prices of flat panel tv's LINK LINK

I bought a 32" Syntax Olevia last year for my g/f. So far, it has been awesome. From what I understand, only a few different companies actually make the LCD panels and then they are rebranded.

Anyways, it's been a nice TV but I'm giving it to my daughter. We're going 50" plasma for the bedroom for contrast and better viewing angle.

Rather than starting a new thread, i am wondering if someone can help me....

I am looking for a 20-23inch LCD for my PC. It has to be WS, a bonus would be that it can be a TV too with HD ready.
I am searching on the internet and trying to understand response time or contrast ratio, etc...

Anyone got any recommendations, Acer seems to be a good buy for the price anyone has any opinions on Acer?

others.... LG
Samsung
Acer

The 23" Samsung with the speakers on the side is very nice, especially for the money. Unfortunately I can't remember the model number but you can find it on the Circuit City website. It's got a HDMI as well as a VGA input and the contrast ration is 3000:1
Once you find the model number, do a search for it on a site like pricegrabber.com and I'm sure you can find it for around $600.

No, the one I'm talking about is actually a TV but can be used as a monitor as well.
