Looking good.

I would be furious with the amount of fuck ups that girl has caused with the cabinets. How can she still have a job.

She is an idiot. And I've let them know repeatedly she is an idiot.

That said...in her idiocy...at least she was wrong after all and there is a drawer over the trash pull out.

The fact that the doors have built in pulls isn't what we initially wanted but we do like the clean look (which I'm not telling the contractor because I want bargaining power). AND it means I can return about $300 in door pulls for the kitchen and bathroom.

I'm still waiting to hear what they offer in compensation for her idiocy. As for how does she still have a job? Her father is a contractor or owns a contracting company and the two owners are friends. She is a favor hire. Either way...she is costing them money...so, I'm sure she got reamed.

Why? Because I was given a mass of incorrect info by people hired by my contractor, and I was given that info at zero hour? Some of which also ended up being incorrect on top of that? I got pissed about that, and they understand why. That person majorly fucked up...I shouldn't have to sit quiet about it.

Am I, will I be picky about finishing details...fuck yes I will. And I warned them ahead of time. And they get that, too. I'm the one shelling out tons of money to get what I want and what I have to live with. Do I think its going to be completely perfect? No. But there are standards that should be adhered to.

I'm pretty chill. I've run out twice today on my own time and dime to get my painter more paint as a favor. My main painter comes in and gives me a big hug every morning. I've let them use and trash my step stool, dolly, and some of my other tools to get their work done. And I more or less stay out of their way and let them do their job. Though I do like to ask questions to learn, and they know that.

Nope. The day it all went down, I cut communication with the idiot girl after one text, and called the supervisor and asked him if she had spoken with him. Then, I told him what the deal was and that I was completely pissed about it. He did his job to de-escalate the situation and find answers or resolutions.

Never once in the last 4 weeks have I had any confrontation or arguments with them. Now...had I kept dealing with that one girl, I would have, but I knew to stop that line of communication the moment she started texting me. She was a stuck up snot when she came to house for a consult, and she was a blithering idiot to not know her product and wait until the day before the install to try and say anything. And it was pretty clear she doesn't get it. It doesn't matter to her, its a job. And she was stupid enough to say as much to them and get reamed for it.

So...do I feel bad if I say something negative about her in front of the supervisor...nope, I sure as fuck don't.

My painter and his guy...He's a nice guy, very sweet. There is always some odd ball drama or "thing" that happens. Every damn day...but I've learned to just laugh at it and basically go "Oh, Lucy!" like a bad sitcom. As long as the work gets done...whatever. I read and talked to enough people before starting that I knew nothing would be perfect, nothing would happen on schedule, and hick ups would occur.

Have to vent somewhere.

I'd say I was tense when I was pissed to hell about the cabinets last week. But the contractor wasn't fighting back with me or anything. He kept calm and wasn't happy when he found out that they did indeed fuck up.

My guy knows the customer service end. So, he doesn't fight with the clients even if they are in the wrong. It only gets tense when if the person in the wrong has an ego problem and fights back about everything. When I've made a mistake I've eaten crow and said, this is on me, its my bad. Like having them redo the accent wall darker today.

I put up the leds tonight. Bright as fuck. Need to install new dimmers.

New base boards and paint. Love the accent wall. Glad I went darker than what we had yesterday.

Work will resume Monday.

Looking great and you have every right to be pissed, construction is expensive shit and the people doing it, don't give a shit a lot of the time.

Looks good! If I was spending that kind of money I would just as pissed, these people want to make a lot of money but don't seem to care about their job, that is BS. I mean we all make mistakes but just seems like that cabinet girl didn't feel sorry about her mistake and that would tick me off.

You're lucky man. The guy who did my floor I had to ride hard and my friend who is using him pays him daily just to keep the carrot in front of him. Construction/handymen have no bosses (except contractors in some cases) but even that doesn't mean shit. That industry is the wild wild west unless you're getting inspected but he doesn't care if it comes out shitty.

Do you think it's because the lights are too bright causing you go darker? I'd get the dimmers in there to gauge whether or not that would help?

Accent wall looks bad ass otherwise!

i didn't put the super bright LEDs in until last night. My viewing/decision was made based of pure daylight.

They are on dimmers, just not LED dimmers, swapping those this weekend.

they "work" but not well. You don't get the full dimming range and the voltage regulation isn't correct.

and on two of them they won't turn all the off. Have them disconnected for the time being.

It's all about the size of the load. If you get enough LED's on a standard dimmer, they'll work fine. It's when you have only one or two, maybe three that you have a problem. If you want to test it, just put an incandescent in along with the LED's.

Shit, I think you just made me realize that I should have changed my dimmers when I did LED conversion too...
mine wouldn't cut on until a certain voltage and then they had a delay too.

Looks good, D.

How much use is that pull-up bar getting?

Swapped one of the dimmers yesterday, works great now. Will do the others when I have the energy, fighting the flu.

Paint is supposed to be finished today in the main areas. They are starting the kids' room...which has me annoyed because I wanted them to do it last, and now it most likely means my kids can't sleep in there tonight. So, we might have to pack up and stay at my in laws for a day or two...Just another discussion to have with the supervisor when the time comes. I don't have the energy or will to fight or protest at the moment. So hopefully it all just gets done.

Been there, rockstar. It's tough at first but you'll see it was needed to be done. Let me know if you want to discuss in PM.

Love the backsplash; great color choice in accent to the ceiling fan, cabinets, & floors.

Down to the home stretch!

What a gorgeous gorgeous backsplash choice, David...
Thanks for the kind words, man. Yeah, it'll all work out.

I look forward to my next home project when I eventually get a home. I'm saving some of what you've done as ideas. It looks spectacular and clean.

Thanks guys.

Got the cabinet folks here finishing, and the plumbers.

My paint...always some drama, he calls me first thing to ask who is going to be here. Starts whining about not wanting to fight for space when other people are working in the same area. Valid argument it and I understand. But I kept saying "call the supervisor" he is the one who scheduled all of you, I don't know what times he told people to be where" He didn't want to call the supervisor, he wanted to appeal to me to let him come Monday...which also happens to be the start of Passover...and he is orthodox....Soooo, yeah. How hard is he going to work to get shit finished on Monday?

No word from the supervisor this morning, which is bugging me. But at least shit is getting done there is a much larger feeling of progress.

And hopefully, I'll be able to shit on my new toilet tonight.

Gotta say..the 3rd party company that pacific sales uses for deliveries and installs, sucks.

If hadn't called to confirm, they would have only delivered 1/3 items. My delivery window was 8-12 today, and last night they said I was #5 so it would probably be around 11:30. I called at Noon...another hour, driver will call when he is on his way. Yeah....no.

I have never, ever had a good experience with anything that best buy delivers. It took them 6 attempts to install the icemaker in my basement fridge and botched the delivery of my TV 3 times before I just went and got it myself.

The fact that they actually delivered anything on time is astonishing to me.

They finally showed up another hour after that. Dishwasher and Stove are in...just waiting for the Microwave to be installed.

Bosch dishwasher...oh man, this thing is SO quiet. Thats huge because of our open kitchen/living room. Used to have to wait to run the dishwasher so you could hear the TV. Now, you can't even tell its on. And their racks are ultra configurable, plus the 3rd rack. I mean...I'm sporting wood over a fucking dishwasher!!!!

Everything looks great. That kitchen backsplash tile looks really good.

My parents just replaced their 20 year old dishwasher with a Bosch one. After seeing it for the first time I want one really bad as well so I know what you mean about being excited over a dishwasher.
