Thankfully GPM never came up, but that might have been what he was referring to, but the plumber was guiding the conversation towards it being UPC certified. And the shower I got is not up to CA code...but the plumber said "dont worry about it" So, I wont.
He wanted info on the actual fixtures? I thought "code" ended at the rough installation.... You should be able to pick whatever the hell showerhead/faucet you want...
When I say this inspector is a real piece of shit prick, I'm not exaggerating. The first time he came and I was the only one home I was about two seconds away from telling him to go fuck himself and get the hell out of my house. The only thing keeping me biting my tongue was not wanting to make anything worse and not getting him to sign off on the permit...which he wouldn't do that day anyway. I'm sure they know that, which is why he acts that way. The plumber knows him and has dealt with him and says he is a piece of work, you just have to know how to talk to him and stroke his ego...which the plumber did when he was back the next day.
Thats great. Thats why I'm paying them to do. I'm not stroking anyones ego. Especially when they come out of the gate acting like disrespectful douche. And I told the contractor...I'm not dealing with the inspectors after that, either he or his guys need to be here for them. That's what I'm paying them for.
Chicken wire for the shower is done. 2 soap niches. I initially wanted one big one on the long wall, but the half the tub sits on an external wall, and half internal, so there were a lot of a support beams and load bearing they couldn't cut into. I think I might like this better, anyway.
New baseboards, fresh coat of paint. Didn't change the color in the master bedroom...did for the bathroom part and will be everywhere else in the house. The fact tomorrow will be day 5 (but I have to subtract a day for a sick day) and its absolutely stupid its taken this long to change baseboard and paint a fucking bedroom. They still have to finish some touch ups and move our shit back in.
Never knew chicken wire was used for tile background, i thought you always use cement tile backerboard
Apparently its called floating the tile and its the better way to do it...no idea. Once it passes inspection they put the concrete on the chicken wire.
roll. They are doing a pretty decent job. I'm too much of a perfectionist and get annoyed with something. Then I have to breath and let it go.

Thanks. It's Dunn Edwards Pistachio Shell. It's the same color we had it painted almost 10 years ago. It's the one color we like a lot are keeping. The rest of the house is browns. We are going greys.
No clue. Originally we were supposed to have one long niche on that wall. But there are load bearing beams. And where the partition from ext/int is mid-tub there is like a triple stack of beams. So cutting would have been impossible. So that smaller niche sits between the beams. And he cut made the one along the back wall.

AHHHH I get it.. It's because they couldn't cut into the load bearing stud! got it, got it..
Good choice with the grey colors, personally i think grey colors look better.
Yeah its time for a change.
In the master bath we did #1...and because of the lighting and everything it almost looks white. So we threw up samples in the kitchen.
For the main living area, halls, foyer we are sticking with #1...looks good in natural light.
We have an accent wall in the living room, but we are changing the locations and going with #2 for that color.
For the guest bath and the kitchen soffit we are going #3
For ceiling, trim, doors we are going pure white, no that swiss coffee crap we had, that everyone uses.
The boys bedroom we are going VERY LIGHT blue. Its a medium blue right now with a dark blue accent wall, and the room doesnt get a lot of a light...so turns out that was a mistake. Want the room to feel bigger and brighter.
We went with grey as well. So much more soothing than beige and browns.
I like our beige/browns. Just time for a change.
I'm also going to have to tell the head painter to get rid of the kid. Nice kid but he fucks everything up and then I have to get the experienced guy to waste time fixing it. Sadly, I will most likely have to have this conversation over the phone because the main guy isn't here today. I hate having these conversations over the phone because its not personal enough, and even more so because my main painter is ESL from Israel...and sometimes there is a barrier with more intricate conversations.
Man, I had been having anxiety about talking to the painter for some reason, but the he didn't bring the kid today so it was easy to have the chat and he was very receptive about it.
Tons of shit getting done today. Finishing the patching on the kitchen, all the baseboards in the main areas are getting yanked. Tile guy is here to do the bathroom floor.
This maybe a dumb question, but where is the plumbing for the shower head? Is it going to be coming out of the ceiling? i like the tile for the flooring.

I'm a bit confused. So there will be an exposed water line that runs up the tile to the shower head? Just never seen it done that way or maybe I have and just can't picture while it is under construction.
Buzzed my main contractor in the gate. So, I stepped out to the living to meet him, and I saw my painter correcting his worker on something he was doing with the circular saw...right then I saw the painter reach over and Im thinking WTF ARE YOU DOING....low and behold he catches his forearm on the blade and is bleeding everywhere. Thankfully, I had an old towel handy to wrap his arm, and there is an urgent care right downstair in my building.
Not the shower head I would have chose but the renovation is coming together nicely! You ever think to running the water to the ceiling and having the shower head coming from there? I would hate to cover up that nice tile work with a pipe...

Im in a condo so there is no re-routing water pipes. This place is a plumbing clusterfuck
I like the exposed pipe shower a lot. They look fantastic.
So it ended up being 12 stiches. He was out for the day. I'll have one his other guys tomorrow.
The kid opersting the saw was was freaked out. So he didn't do anything he was supposed to and then just disappeared. Oh well. It was his first day with them and it wasn't his fault. But whatever.
Bathroom floor and shower were finished. and a lot of paint got up before the accident.
