Um, holy hell... Have you found a posting they made where they put your telephone number in the posting from an account you did not create? If so, i would talk to a lawyer about filing a civil suit against them. It absolutely is provable who made the account (original sign up IP address is recorded by Google and kept permanently),along with the IP addresses used for most posts on sites like HomeAdvisor, etc. Sometimes some sites only keep the IP logs for 30 days, but it's there...
I don't know where you'd find posts from sites such as home advisor since its all internal. But I was able to get the exact email address used from one of the immigration offices that was calling. So, I have that, but I assume if I contact google they will not give me any information due to privacy acts...which means spending lots of money I don't have on things like lawyers. And I can't prove 100% it was them...but I mean who else would start doing this starting with contractor sites? Its like duh...shit where you eat.

Missed this...the cracks seemed to have stabilized as in nothing new. But nothing has been "fixed" not sure it ever will.
I met with an enforcement agent from the contractor state lic. board about 6 weeks. She came to to condo to go over once again, actually see everything I had an issue in my complaint (plus I showed all the issues I had with them period) Showed her all the paperwork...showed her the websites...She found one red flag, on a hidden webpage I screen saved basically whoring out for salespeople...it listed one of the guys as CEO (and he claimed as much) but apparently he wasn't listed in any official documentation which is a big no no.
Anyway, we wrapped up. She said give her about 15 days and she call me to see if I wanted arbitration or just to leave a black mark on their record (and her finding would help guide my decision)
I hadn't heard anything and kind of let it go. But I decided to do some digging. All their online reviews, yelp etc...list them as closed, but I knew this was happening after what they did with their BBB. They just moved addresses and used it as a way to "open a new business" with review sites...then listed all their friends to post fake 5 star reviews...I mean an Israeli dude living in Dallas has a So Cal company redo your roof? coughBULLSHITcough. Oh and their website is currently no longer active.
So, out of curiosity I went to the contractor site to look up their lic. number...Currently suspended for lack of qualifier. whatever that means. I also see a complaint popped up on their as well dated a couple weeks ago with a recommendation for legal action. Looks like someone else went after them, too.
So, I left the lic. board enforcement agent a message and hopefully she'll get back to me with more info.
Even if I get no monetary compensation...feels good to know I had a hand in knocking them off their perch...even for a bit.

I did fuck with them...how much time, credibility, and money did it cost them to have to shut down and start over? I call that a win. Don't fuck with me.

They are the people who prosecute unlicensed contractors, and while I know this guy has "license hopped" to avoid having complaints follow him, there may be some law he is violating in doing so and a criminal charge/conviction may be the only way to correct this guy long term. Just a thought, and filing a complaint would cost you nothing.

I'm doing everything through the State Contractors Licensing Board. Sadly, what they are doing is legal and apparently pretty normal.

I'm happy to send the names in a PM. To start publicly bashing them, especially the "new' company is to play with fire on a legal level. And this fight has been exhausting enough where I'm totally in the right. Not looking to start another fight where I could be legally in the wrong.
Had my arbitration this morning. Of course the offending party was a no show. I went through my case. Show my evidence. I should get a judgment by the end of the week. Trying to actually get the money should prove more interesting. I may never get it. But at least I know I'll have been a thorn in their side.

I didnt take a photo, but I also have 3 perfect copies of these little accordion pouches I found that fit 4x6 photos perfectly. I have those all neat and organized as well.
Hopefully you can get a judgement/lien. If not, at least you may force them to pay the filing fees for a bankruptcy so they can do it all over again with a new company name...
Well done David, I really wish I would have went after the fuckhead contractor that ripped me off, but it was such a drawn out long nightmare that I was honestly happy to put it behind me. I doubt you'll ever see any money from the judgement either, but at least you stood up and did something about it

My wife would have been just as happy to let is lie and move on. She is very non-confrontational. It's also how those assholes remain in business and continue to make money at the expense of other people. Unfortunately for me, or at least my stress levels, I have sense of justice.
