Update! Doors done, drawers (mostly, bottom drawer needs more fitment work) done, main case done. Next up is to glue up the drawers and get the edge profile on the base which I hope to do today. Then final fitment of the drawers to make sure things are sliding properly and evenly along with cutting/fitting integral handle pulls which should be tomorrow. Last thing will be to get the hinges mortised and installed (they aren't here yet, stupid supply chain issues), get the lid engraved and milled out before final sanding and applying a hardwax oil finish. Getting close to the end now!

he builds two joints in the mornin, he builds two joints at night. he builds two joints in the afternoon.
they make him feel alright. he builds two joints in time of peace and two in time of war. he builds two
joints before he builds two joints, and then he builds two more. @cu2wagon

Thank you sir, they take forever but are really rewarding at the end. They did get faster with each one I did though. I also got really good at sharpening chisels lol.
I get the reference and thanks. They are an epic PITA to do but look super cool at the end.

Glue up of the drawers and main case assembly complete without issue! Got the outside of the drawers all sanded up and fitted into the case...there were a few tweaks that needed to be done to get stuff to fit. A good block plane is incredibly handy to have for anyone wanting to get more into this stuff. Also, a good sander and good sandpaper is the biggest game changer I've come across to date. My new one absolutely eats wood and saves so much time sanding. Totally worth the price tag.
No pics because it basically just looks like it does above. Next step is to finish out the side doors and get the hanging pins made/installed and get the top finished off. Then I'm basically on hold until the stupid hinges show up.

I'm going to have to deal with the damn baby if I don't deliver this box before I have to shut down for the winter.

Getting close to done. Final dry fit assembly. Just need to get the magnets installed (arriving today) and then it's off to finish. I already sanded it after taking this picture.

Very nice, sir!
Just drawers & a flip top? Can't tell if the sides are hinged, for something like necklace hangers.

Judging by the gaps, the sides look like doors.
Or I'm a dick that just called out crappy joinery

The doors are just mocked up at this point, not actually attached so that's why it might look weird?
The red text above was very specifically set that way lol.

Dead space between the drawers and the sides is probably accessable by hidden panel and it's where she can stash her Pretty Pink My First Pistola.

I sure hope so too lol.
Admittedly this color combo came to be because I had the perfect piece of maple and purpleheart already on hand lol. I was thinking of doing maple and walnut but thought that would be a bit too bland.

I love bland
Hell I would just do full walnut because I'm such a sucker for walnut everything (as you already know).
It looks fantastic though Sam, great job as usual.

I thought about doing monotone as well and saw a few completed boxes that were either all maple or all walnut or all something and they looked even more bland lol. The actual plans call for the main color to be mahogany with walnut accents.

or this:

But I would make sure the drawer fronts all were grain matched

^ Those would look stupid in multiple colors so that looks good there. And yes, I agree that it's a rookie move to not match grain though most of these big furniture makers are never going to do such things.
I really want to do a side table for my basement next year and incorporate storage into it to house my cable modem and wifi router to get them out of the way. Planning on doing walnut with a lift top and some drawers in the front.

It always blows me away how the character of purple heart wood changes once it gets a little finishing on it.
That looks totally different now. Very nice!

All done with the wood parts. Just need to make the leather bits this winter and it'll be completely finished. Maple body with a curly maple top and purpleheart contrast pieces. More beauty shots to come, it was dark out when I took these.

First leather project done. Many more planned for this winter as I'm considering actually starting to sell this stuff.

I don't really know where to put this so I guess it goes here lol. I'm going to be kicking off selling my leatherwork items in a few different styles and patterns in the next week or so. I've been working to put some inventory together to start it off. Those that follow me on the gram look for a post with a new account to follow (pls kthx) soon. Here's a custom handbag design I just finished up! I will have better pictures than this for when I post it online. This is Horween Essex leather in black (obv) with natural Maine thread stitching and brass rivets, snaps, and ring inside for keychains and stuff.
