^ LOL. We're going to do a Hunger Games in our community (which is heavily wooded). Winner has the right to pay us rent

Seriously though, her parents (mainly her mother) was upset to hear we were going to make a bonus room out of it (theater, etc) instead of a fully dedicated guest suite. LOL. Makes no sense to build it out to be used 4 times a year... so it will be a bonus area with a trundle bed as part of the sitting area so people can stay, but not too long...

^ Yeah, they're moving right along. They got the rest of the plywood on the first floor and finished upstairs. They also got most of the roof joists up. Couldn't take pics though b/c it started raining and by the time it stopped, too dark. Will snap some this weekend...

Looks great!

Total aside...do you guys have a dog? I was admiring your split rail + wire fence...it's what we're thinking of doing on the new place. Doesn't mess up the view, but keeps the dog in, and the wire isn't all that noticeable.

^ We do not but the previous homeowners did which is why the wire is over the fence. That said, yes, it's pretty invisible and many other homeowners in the community with pets have similar configs...

Thanks..it's the least offensive fencing solution I've seen so far for large lots where stockade fences aren't feasible.

Sorry for the OT.

haha. Yeah, it's got some size to it. Now you know why I tell everyone my wife commissioned the garage-mahal.

We actually made some small changes Sunday when we met with our contractor. Going to keep the left and right side of the space above the garage vaulted. We climbed up with a ladder this weekend and actually walking up there felt so so nice and open, so that change is no problem as it does not affect anything structurally. We're also adding two more windows to the rear on the top floor to take advantage of the views.

OK, couple new pics. Started on the overhang in the front and back, and also began tying the roof in. The first shot is kind of washed out b/c the sun was right there, but gives you the best look of the hip roof they started on. Next one is just from an angle further back.. trying to hide from the sun. They also started on the lower overhang in the back... but nothing really exciting so didn't upload that shot

No pics from yesterday as it was mostly roof stuff and tough to get a photo of. They were staging the plywood for the upstairs, so I'm not sure if they're going to start doing the walls or roof. Guess we'll see when I get home tonight....

Hard to tell from the pics but is this a 3 car garage?

And what is the 2nd level for? A lounge or something?

^^ It's actually an oversize 3. I think we'll be able to get 4 in b/c we can do tandem in the middle bay. And yes, bonus room upstairs. Two-thirds will be a theater with kitchenette and full bath plus daybed for guests, one-third will be storage.

Plans are in the original post which show the layout a little better...
