Thanks guys! We were out of town last week, but a lot got done. Definitely in the home stretch. They started on paint, most of the stone is done, most of the electrical on the exterior has been installed, and they started on an apron we are doing on that side of the house (kind of a porch thing which will be flagstoned to match the walkway and wall).

Uploading pics now...

OK, pics of the garage. Rear painted, front painted, then two shots of the apron... one on the right side of the walkway, one on the left. You can also see the stone work is done on the front of the garage and the mud room. A/C units were also moved to the rear to their new location...

Hopefully they'll finish paint today since it's supposed to rain most of the week. They really only have some trim work and the doors left... so not too bad.

Looking good.
When does the driveway go in?

Wife and I are in the process of designing a house (will create new thread) that currently has a 3-car garage

^ Driveway will just be gravel, which is what the rest of the driveway in. Will be the very last thing to go down after all of the work trucks are long gone

Should have some more pics tomorrow or Wednesday. With the spotty storms and our GC being out of town last week, not much happened. A ton of stuff scheduled for this week though as we head down the home stretch...

Some quick pics I snapped before the storms yesterday, so lighting isn't the best... especially the front shot. Some more painting was completed and electricity was also turned on for the garage, so lights work, etc. Paint is almost done, next will be gutters, more stone work, then grading and gravel. After that just some small touch-up and it will be done...

Looks real good. Are you going to do the 15-20ft section of paving you had talked about before this go around or will that be a later project?

^ Just that small skirt for now which is under the tarp. It's about 6' from the garage. We are also doing a 15' apron on the end of the driveway to keep the gravel from washing out down there. Down the road we may add more of a pad up top. We'll see...

I would think you would want a bit larger pad in front of the garage for washing the cars and what not.

I forget did you get the garage done with a funnel drain system so you can wash inside?

^ Yeah, the garage has a drain.

No problem washing the car on on the gravel. Pretty much the same as concrete...

^ Thanks all!!

Sorry for the slacking. Between the daily storms and late nights, haven't had a chance to snap many pics. So here is where we are: Finishing touches are being done. Gutters should be in today or tomorrow. Final grading for the yard around the flagstone apron plus the driveway should be done next week... gravel to follow shortly after. Electrical is being run to automate the gate, and the motor and all components should be done by next week. The apron has been flagstoned and the stairs in the garage are almost done. So definitely in the home stretch.

Pics below are of the apron (right side, left side, then entire apron). I also snapped a pic of the breezeway. If you remember the old photos with the carport, this was where the A/C units were originally. So it's not a breezeway with seperate entrance to the mudroom. I also grabbed a pic of the stairs in the garage. They were just completed on Tuesday, so should be stained to match the rest of the trim in the next day or two. Enjoy...

!

Will your gate open automatically when you're trying to drive out from the house, or do you have to put in the code like you're coming in from the outside?

^I just assumed it would have a remote that they could program into their cars' Homelink . People still have to stop, open the window, and punch in a code?

I guess I never thought of it that way. But visitors still have to, right?

A friend has his set up this way, where there's a key pad on the outside, but it automatically lets you out once inside.

^Guests can enter a code or they buzz the house from the box and you open the gate for them from there. That's how it worked at my uncle's house. Every room had an intercom pad and you could respond to the gate from any of them, so no matter where you were, you could open the gate for people, and it helps maintain security as you don't have a code floating around out there. Obviously the auto out can be tied to a sensor, much like in a parking deck. So remote in for you, code or buzz in for guests, and auto out for everyone.

Sidebar re: giving out codes - at my old job, there was a specific part of a parking deck for the executives that had gate access. Tons of non-executives, myself included, knew the code (CEO didn't want a weekly code because he didn't want to deal with it changing LOL). So anytime we went to those offices, we got choice parking . See why you don't give out codes .

Yeah, there will be a keypad will be for visitors. We will have remotes (and we'll program the wife's Homelink) which will let us in as we drive up. There is a sensor underground on the other side of the gate (inside) that will allow cars to exit automatically... so nothing is required to exit.

Painters were at the house doing some touchup, and a window that got shattered when they were doing some stone was replaced. They also started cleaning up a bit... so getting there slowly but surely...

^ That's our well. Currently getting bids on either moving the pump out of the way or just burying it in cement in the ground so it doesn't stick up anymore...
