Dyson DC24 Question...
Dyson DC24 Question...
Anyone have it...? My vacuum is going and I have enough reward points (Aeroplan, it's a Canadian thing) for the Dyson DC24...so, I'm thinking of cashing it in for it.
A couple questions: Is it as good as advertised/hyped? And does it do stairs okay...?
Thanks in advance...

:insert "it sucks" pun here:
I have the DC25 Animal and am pretty happy with it. The roller ball makes it very maneuverable and it works great on hardwood floors as well. I would say it's as good as advertised/hyped.
From what I gather the DC24 is smaller/lighter, which would make it better on stairs than the DC25. I couldn't tell you anything else about it though, but if it has the same basic design, it should be pretty good.

We researched vacuums a lot last year, as we were considering a Dyson or a central vac system. We were weighing the options for a vac that would need to pick up hair balls from a dog who sheds A LOT...so we wanted something that would work really well.
Our house is already roughed in.....is your house roughed in for a central vac system? If so, you'd just need to purchase and install the canister. After everything we researched, it made a lot more sense to go the central vac route. It would've cost the same (or less!) than purchasing a Dyson, is FAR more powerful, offers a lot more options, larger capacity, better filtration, and will outlive any stand-alone vac by decades.

Thanks, Dave...so, the machine does come apart for stairs. The Dyson site doesn't really have a pic on how the DC24 works on stairways.

I don't know if you guys have something similar in canada but try craigslist. A LOT of people are selling theirs around here for almost half or more off the original price. Times are tough and people are selling what they can to make ends meet.
I was in the market for a new vaccum until we realized we had vaccumed up drywall dust and the hepafilter was completely clogged. Glad I got that fixed...wasn't into spending hundreds on a vaccum. Good luck!

We have an animal that works fine, but the dust buster style dc16 we bought was garbage. Held a charge for about 6 minutes and had crappy suction. Overall I'm not impressed with dyson as far as value for your dollar.
The handheld units are not worth buying unless you get an amazing deal on them. The uprights are great, though.
I have had my DC07 for over 5 years no i believe and it still performs flawlessly! I recommend them highly. And so do my friends that now have them after seeing mine in action or lending it to them. One even parked his 2k kirby for one.
My cleaning lady was recommended to us by good friends who live in the next building over....She has been trying to convince them to get the same dyson we have
"You're a vacuum is a no...no....Dabid and Nana's vacuum is a good."

We have the Dyson DC17 (about four years), I haven't used it for awhile. We threw out a 10 yr old Hoover about six months and got an Oreck. That thing is great, paid about $225. I went to pick up the Dyson about a week ago, that damn thing weighs about five times more than the Oreck. The Oreck is great for cleaning stairs, as light as it is.
