Dyson Vacuum's

I am in the market to buy a new vacuum and I have read the reviews and all I have read is good things about them, however the price is high but worth it.

I bought the Dyson DC07 Animal version

anyone else on here have a Dyson vacuum that can comment on their experience, I just bought it and reason being to the purchase is that my 1 year old son is have a lot of running nose lately and the alergist thinks that there is a lot of dust left over in our house even though we vacuum once a week.

please shed some light

Thanks

Joe

They sure do, and they do a really good job of it.

I just bought a DC17 Animal, because the dog and cat hair and our place was getting out of control. It does a fantastic job. My only complaint is that it is a bit heavy to use on stairs even with the attachments, but that is my only complaint.

I have DC17 Animal as well (I own a yellow lab), and it's the best vacuum I've ever owned. Get a Dyson, you won't regret it.

The only way I would pay $500 for one is if I could vacuum my house once, then go over it again with a Dyson and see results.

Just cant justify the expense at the moment.

I have no experience with that vacuum. What I use to do when my mother would vacuum is step outside to get away from any dust that might cause my allergies... every other day... It doesn't matter what vacuum you use there will still be dust that will escape the vacuum's vacuum and cause the allergies in your son... My parents had the allergy kits and $1,000+ kirby vacuums and My allergies were still there... waste of $$$ imho...

I say take him out of the area for at least half hour to an hour during and after you vacuum. Depends what type of carpet you have as well... Either way, keeping him off the carpet helps... I recommend blankets or play rugs to put on the carpet if he is to play on the floor...

Tile/wood flooring FTW

I was so against spending the kind of money Dyson asks for, but broke down and picked one up (got somewhat of a deal on it). It's just their basic model (DC07) and couldn't be happier with it.

I have not noticed any issues with increased allergies, dust, etc... Both my wife and I are sensitive to that type of stuff.

They work. Ive done back to back with a Oreck and Kirby. And with both of them afterwards the Dyson vacuumed up alot tht the others missed.

I Bought the DC07 Animal quite a few years ago and love it. I have friends that have bought them after seeing how well it worked as well. One even got rid of his New kirby he dropped a fortune on for one. If you have pets this is especially the vacuum for you

With a dog and 2 cats, we were going through $80-$120 vacs about every year, not anymore.

Get an Oreck.

It is seriously one of the best purchases you can make. I have terrible allergies, and never noticed how much dust, dirt, and dander gets recirculated from your vacuum back into the air. With my Oreck, it locks into the bag, for me to throw out when I am done vacuuming. I can't even tell you how much more tolerable its been living in the house that is now clean from those allergens.

I purchased an XL21 model, which included a 21-Year warranty and free once-a-year tuneup and service. I am on the third year of owning it, and its still like brand-new.

Oh, I forgot to mention the best thing. It's only 8 pounds. It is so easy to move around the house and up and down stairs. The thing is so light and powerful, it almost feels like its self propelled.

I dumped my oreck for the dyson. The dyson is far superior to it.

Really?

Do you actually do the cleaning with it?

My biggest gripe about the Dyson, aside from it weight, is the overall profile size of the vacuums head. It's MONSTEROUS!! Honestly, how do you fit it under a bed, under cabinets, or under a couch? The motor on the Dysons are so loud and annoying too, it sounds like a blender on frappe mode.

never used a Dyson, but we do have a Rainbow E Series, and it's fucking spectacular. The only bad part is emptying out the dirty water

The fiancee and I are going to put a Dyson on our registry. Just not sure which one to get.

The "Regular" or the "Animal"

She has a cat, but is the Animal "multi-surface" as well? I'm gonna put a laminate floor in my townhome early this summer and want to make sure the vac will work on it.

i saw this thread a couple weeks back and it was very informative. cliff notes basically say hoover's copy dyson's design but a fraction of the cost. the guy cycloneman is really knowledgable when it comes to vacuum tech. so anyone in the market for a vacuum should look at this thread.

Hoover MachX Series

If you have pets the animal is the way to go. Yes it has a setting for wood floors. plus some nice attachments (like for wood floors and chairs. all for the pull out hose)

Yes, i do the cleaning (believe me i got flack from most of my friends for buying a purple 500 dollar vacuum)

I will agree with you that the thing is a tank compared to the Oreck. For me my bedrooms have laminate floor so i break out the floor attachment and wand and am able to vacuum all the way under the bed (to get all teh lil nasty dust bunnies)

I have no problem under tables and cabinets. it does well. My Oreck was about 3 years old when i replaced it. I vacuumed the living room (all carpet) from one end to the other then back. Then proceeded to vacuum with the Dyson. Half way thru i had to empty the container out because it was full from dog hair that was missed.

I lent it out to all my friends that laughed at me and told them to vac first with theirs and then run the dyson over it. Just about every one of them went out that day and bought one.

Funny, the guy who invented Dyson tried to sell his techknowledge to Hoover and a few other companies. They wouldn't pay him enough and IIRC it was Hoover who said they would buy it, but would not make a vacuum with it because it was too good.

My favorite demo when people think I'm crazy for buying an expensive vacuum. I love looking at all that stuff that I am no longer inhaling.

we have a hoover bagless that works pretty well now. 2 things i don't like about it; there are 2 filters that i need to clean every once in a while. and when i go over the floor once and dump the canister i usually go over it again and it picks up the rest.

i like that it was $90 and it seems to pick up pretty well. now i just need to find someone that has a dyson that can let me borrow it

I really love my dyson.

I have the animal one and it's great. I have two dogs and two cats. I used to have carpet, but now I have hardwood/tile and carpet in the bedroom. It works wonders!

I used to hate vacuuming, but now it's a breeze. I dumped an oreck and a hoover for this baby.

I got the dyson from bed bath and beyond. I used one of their MANY 20% off coupons. Cant beat that!
