Absolutely gorgeous. Will you be doing a backsplash behind the cooktop?

One of the other bedrooms. Really happy with the black doors.
My office. Our builder thinks it is too dark but I love it.

She was almost ready to cry.
We should have occupancy when I get back from the UK next weekend. I will do some prep work like network infrastructure that next week and we mve in on the 11th of Feb. Then it’ll be another month before our new furniture arrives.

It's amazing how much hope and emotion gets poured into a project like designing/building your own home.

The black doors are a very cool touch. Not something I am sure I would pick without having seen it first. Turned out great. Beautiful home.

Moving day is tomorrow!!!
The TV is hung by the chimney with care. Wires will be cleaned up another day.
Son's bed is put together.
Porch windows are in. Apologies for the weird reflection.
OK, back to packing.

Quick check-in ...
Spent the week unpacking, mostly the wife's stuff since (a) she was working and (b) she has the most shit.
Got my network up and running today, including the server so PC backups can continue.
Only problems have been we had a power outage the first morning we were here (3 hours long), and seems like the boost fan in our dryer vent is not working.
All of our furniture fits really well, and our new furniture will be delivered in two weeks, roughly 2 weeks ahead of expectation.

Looking good!
How do you like those dog gates with the doors in them? I have an older design that doesn't have a door and have been noticing lately when we need to constantly move one panel to go past it that it is scratching the floor. Do they seem flimsy since the is a U channel the door basically sits in?

We have one that is not sturdy at all, but that is because our daughter’s cat threw it down a flight of stairs by jumping off of it.

Here are a couple. We just got our old house on the market but we did get the dining set, barstools, and area rugs we ordered. The sectional is from the old house. Pardon the mess— no staging was done. The carpet runners are for our old guy who has hip displasia, and the gates are to keep noses away from the front windows and door.
House looks awesome though man, happy for you.

I have to build a new workbench too... the old one was too big to move.

Been lurking in this thread a couple times now. The results are fantastic! I love the lake/pond view. We’re under contract for vacant land with a 1/3 acre retention pond on it. Hopefully I’ll have one of these threads by Fall.

Update:
We added a water chlorination system about a month ago because the sediment and iron levels in the water were just too high. A huge improvement in the water and a pretty large expense -- almost $5k. At least the pool shock that we have to use in it is cheap. Looking at about 3 gallons per year @ something like 4 bucks a gallon.
Our mud finally dried enough this week for the builder to do some grading. We have plant beds all around the house, mulch, trees, and shrubs. We bought an additional 3 trees for the backyard -- a London planetree, a silver linden, and a river birch. Also had the paver patio completely leveled because it settled over the winter and water was pooling in front of the fireplace. Irrigation system was installed today. Sod/seed and fence are next!
