Have a Bosch dishwasher since build of this place -- moved in December of 2016. Problem free so far and use it daily.

Having been a -boi growing up and forced to wash dishes all through my schooling days thanks to my Rents, I am proud to say I don't wash my dishes no more and use the Bosch.

The 800 & Benchmark series Bosch do not have a heating element in the bottom so you can put plastic anywhere in it. It uses some sort of rock that gets heated from the hot water cycles and then that creates heat in the tub during the drying cycle. In my experience, it works really well. Other than cups that have deep ridges on the bottom I never have anything wet when the cycle is finished.

Appliance guy I know recommends Whirlpool/KA/Amana over most brands. I'd be likely to go with a good KA.
I think my parents have a Bosch & it's very quiet.
We have an LG, and it's quiet, but hate the sing-song tones. Finally figured out how to silence the end of cycle song.

Your appliance friend probably recommends them for the services/repurchases

I have a Whirlpool, which we hate. It developed a leak just before Thanksgiving. The culprit was a 50 cent o-ring that couldn't be removed from the lower housing. The housing itself was $70, so that was annoying.

Gah, meant to edit it but ran out of time.

I had some other little annoyances with the dishwasher too - the top rack adjusters broke when it was about 2 years old. I got a no-name version of them from Amazon since they apparently break very often

Otherwise it's just the cleaning and drying ability of it that annoys us. We're likely going Bosch later this year for DW, cooktop and oven.

Finally got some running time under our belt with the GE dishwasher and I can confirm that it sucks donkey balls. It's cheap feeling and works ok at best. This will 1000000% be the first appliance that gets changed out. Might even do it ahead of its useful life because we hate it so much.

Ended up ordering a Kitchenaid 404 front button model dishwasher. It was on sale and delivery ready for this friday. 3 stores said April/May was the earliest for a Bosch to be delivered and installed.

Looked at the LG stormwash and it seemed pretty good besides the bottom drawer being flimsy. My 3 requirements were heated dry, 3rd rack and stainless interior. I'll keep you guys posted!

I'm really surprised they were able to find that KitchenAid.

I replaced mine with a Bosch in June/July 2020 - or whenever the run on household appliances began - and was relatively limited on available options. The dishwasher needed to be replaced so timing was the sole factor in the decision. It's quiet and I don't have any complaints but I'd get a Miele if I were to do it again. Most dishwashers seems to be about the same db level and I'm partial to the rack configuration in the Miele over the Bosch - to the extent that matters.

FML, the main motor failed in December 2024, it was making a loud noise, apparently failed bearing. I replaced the motor myself.

Now the damn thing started randomly beeping and stopping the cycle, which seems to be a common problem that this guy was nice enough to post a fix. Hope this is a long term fix.

When this machine works it really does a nice job. I thought the steam feature was a toy but it seems to make a difference.

I don't miss our LG. While I wish I'd read better & got the Whirlpool with a stainless drum [ours is plastic], it works well & cost less than replacing the motor on the LG

Update: my Whirlpool shit the bed for the 4th time and it was looking like the main control board. I wasn't dumping more money into it. I picked up a Bosch 800 from Costco. Unfortunately I wasn't in a position to replace the cooktop or wall oven at the same time but I do really the dishwasher .

Haven't heard anything bad about Bosch & Miele, other than the cost.

Yeah the Bosch was on the high end but the reviews on its cleaning abilities are accurate. It's got a built in water softener and it's drying system means there's very rarely water spots.

My parents have a Bosch in their house. Very open between the kitchen, dining & living rooms. Quiet was the main point for them. Any other ambient noise is enough to cover the minimal noise the DW makes.

Yeah I thought the Whirlpool was quiet but this thing is nearly silent. All we usually hear are things moving (like container lids).

Bought a Bosch 500 in our old place. Loved it, never had problems. Really liked how the door cracked open when it was done to help air drying.

Bought a Bosch 800 in our new place and love it even more. Like someone said previously, you can put plastic anywhere since it has their 'crystal dry' heating method. It dries pretty much everything.

Welp we went and got the Bosch 800 back in April because neither my wife or I could stomach the shitty GE one anymore.

And it already broke on us a few weeks ago. We went to run a cycle and it just didn't respond to any inputs and was overall just dead to the world. So we called the appliance place we bought it from and they said it was the control board, it would take a week to get a new one and then we could schedule an appointment for service...which was another week out. Service guy comes out, replaces the board and nothing happens. Same issue as before. He decides it's actually the OTHER control board (who knew lol) that needs to be replaced so that part had to get ordered (one week) and get on the schedule (two weeks). So now we've been out of a dishwasher for a month and looking at not getting it back online until next Friday.

While it was working, it was absolutely fantastic though. Super quiet and dried all the dishes amazingly well.

Can confirm that I would much rather have a dishwasher than hand washing stuff though.

good news is that the Kitchenaid has been mostly trouble free and working great - model KDFM404KPS

only dislike is that the status lights are basic and there's no "timer" showing how much time is left. Otherwise quiet and very happy with purchase. Now onto finding a fridge (will make a new thread).

Narrowed it down to Frigidaire Gallery or the Bosch 800. Last piece to choose. Do I keep the matching set or step up to the 800? Cost difference is about $700 right now

Bosch gets my vote. The extra cost sucks, but I think it's a much better option.
Sample size of 1, but I really didn't like the Gallery appliances we had in our last house.
My dad has a Bosch DW & it's absurdly quiet [they have a very open kitchen/dining/living arrangement] and does a great job on dishes.

Get the 800. The dry function alone is worth the money.

We got a replacement dishwasher in like August and it has been fantastic ever since.

Love my Bosch 800. The drying function with no metal heater coil is the best thing ever.

Heard MLK day appliances usually go on sale around here. Will monitor prices this week and place order next week. Talked the wife into the Bosch 800.
