Advice/Opinions:

Below is a chart of my dyno pulls. My question is: Theoretically, if I want the best/fastest lap time or drag race time, shifting at what RPM would let me achieve the best results?

From looking at the graph, peak HP comes at about 6,250RPM's, so would that be the best RPM to shift at to achieve the fastest/best times? Any advice/opinions are all welcomed, along with the reasoning behind them.

BTW, these pulls were done at MD Automotive, http://www.markdibella.com/california_racing_clubs.htm, by Mark, on a DynoJet. The first four runs were baseline runs with an AEM CAI. The last four runs were done with the CAI and ATLP exhaust. This was when Mike was prototyping the ATLP, and I was the test mule to measure the gains. The #'s have been SAE corrected.

Once again, my question is: Theoretically, if I want the best/fastest lap time or drag race time, shifting at what RPM would let me achieve the best results?

Here's the chart:

Nice HP numbers.

Shifting at redline is your best bet. Not only are you still making great power to redline but when you upshift your RPMS will fall to about 5000rpm which is where the TL-S makes its peak torque. Perfect ratios for drag racing!

For drag even though your power starts to plateau at a little over 6k, I would still shift closer to redline. Main reason being that it will put you much closer to a desirable powerband (vtec) in the next gear.

For track, unless you have your lines perfectly dialed in I don't think you should be driving BASED on shift points, but rather how well you took the line.

Or think about it this way, if you shift at 6250rpm, your car will go from making 260whp to like 180whp at like 4500rpm. But if you shift at 6700rpm, then it will be making 220whp at 5000rpm.
