Bar stools

Due to my lack of space (and non-use, I eat in my room or on the couch) Ive decided to go with barstools instead of a breakfast bar, but these suckers are expensive!

Im looking for modern/clean (read: no country styles) tall bar stools with backs. Most cool ones I see are backless but Id like the stools to double as extra seating when guests are over and they need to be comfortable.

My colors are brown, orange, and white (so tans, natural woods, and rusts are good).

Id like to spend less than $200 shipped and would prefer 3 bar stools, but will buy 2 if thats all I can afford.

I looked at IKEA, but *meh*. Found some stuff on Overstock but its on the pricey side still.

Not yet. Should close by the end of the month.

I need a couch, computer, desk and bar stools. The bar stools are giving me a hard time.

Good idea with the Flea market...hopefully I can visit a few before I need them.

Ive checked Craigslist for a while and can never find what I need.

Are you looking for wood or metal? Or do you care?

Flea Market is the best bet. We've been in our house about 13 months now and we're still looking for bar stools for our island. Everytime we find one we like it's way too expensive. That and shipping usually adds even more to the cost. We usually keep an eye on Frontgate's website as they have had bar stools on sale with very good prices, but so far, never the designs we like...

Yeah, they're expensive... but keep an eye on their Special of the Day. They once had a $300 stool for half-price. It was just too bad it wasn't what we were looking for...

Well this sucks. What a rip off for chairs with long legs

I went back to the model and checked out the unit and Ill have room for a small breakfast bar. I can get a table set for less than 2-3 bar stools.

I also realized the fixtures are cheeeeeeeap. Upgrading wont be too expensive but I need to do it. I saw ones at Lowe's for $30-$40...plus ceiling fans for under $75.

I bought this one for my Dad, but our last name is Klein so I guess that won't work.

My neighbor who just spent 30K on his basement picked up bar stools, from Wal-Mart of all places. He said they looked everywhere and Wal-Mart had some that worked.

Paid something like $27 bucks each.

I'm getting this set for a kitchen/breakfast small footprint table and seating - I plan on adding 2 more stools to it for that price I don't think it can be beat.

I don't have them yet, until all of the other improvements are made to the place I am trying to reserve as much cash as possible - but its only like $575 for the whole set with 4 chairs, I don't think I can hold off much longer for the price.

I had similar style stools a number of years ago and they weren't that comfortable if you plan on sitting there for a few hours. But for 1/2 hour or less it was never a problem.

In my place I also have a dinning room table and plenty of other seating so this is just for a breakfast area in the kitchen, or if someone wants a little privacy.

Saki,
We have two Wal-Mart wooden bar stools that you can have, but that's all they are, bar stools. They don't have a back or anything like that. Interested?

This one is a bargain at ($800) considering the pleasure you'll get out of it...

Re:fixtures

They probably installed Peerless (sp) or some crap like that. However, if you replace them, spend a few extra dollars and get nice, quality ones. Stick with the big name brands. You can get a cheaper Moen, Delta or Price Pfister around $50 +/-. Otherwise, you're looking at replacing them again in about a year.

After I moved into my condo, it took me one year to find a pair of stools that I could afford and would fit my living room decor.
I ended up finding a couple at Bed Bath & Beyond of all places. $99 each. I used a 20% off coupon, too. Not a bad deal. Everyone that's seen them has said it matches well.
BB&B changes their stool offerings every once in a while around here, so keep an eye out for them. The price point is always the same though. I was about ready to shell out $200 per stool at a different place for some that didn't even swivel.

Mine look like: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...=106239&RN=689

Target has a sale this week in my area (NJ), they call it a pub set. Basically like the set posted by tireguy, but not as fancy looking, and all for around $159 if I recall correctly. I agree with scrib, don't discount Wal-mart or Target or any of those big name places, you may find some decent pieces there.

Yea, my next stop was Target. I Target. My boyfriend tries to limit our experience there because Ill wander for hours.

But then I remembered ebay and am bidding on a whole set that matches my decor for $65 (local pickup only).

I also found a couch and two shower curtains. Hopefully Ill win all 4...it would save me a TON.

Well I got REALLY lucky and found a set of three on craiglist for $50! They are simple black with tan seats. Theyre perfect!

The guy also has a shitton of other stuff Im getting as well. Looks like the stools, a nice table stand, a modern-looking coffee table/end table set, area rug and lamps for $200.
