Anyone with "advanced" door locks/deadbolts?

I've gotten used to not having to take out my keys to get in/out of my car and now I'm wondering if I can go from house to car and back without using keys at all, but still have things lock.

I've seen some fingerprint deadbolts, but the reviews seem to be pretty bad. Are any of you using them, or alternative things like RF/RFID keys, etc?

I don't have this, but I do have the small gray oval "sensor" type thing to go into the office. You still have to take the sensor out of your pocket. But to set this up in the home, I'm wondering what the cost would be?

I don't, but I know someone with the regular key + number pad combo for the house door lock. Personally wouldn't get one like that specifically, but they seem to like it for things like walking the dog and not having to take all of their keys along.

not for a deadbolt, but i have a schlage keypad w/ the 'normal lock' on the door in between my house and the garage. I wanted a lock on that door and didn't want to have to worry that i would go out there for something and be stuck in the garage w/o any keys or a way to get back into my house.

Yeah Home Depot had those Schlage locks - the deadbolts are way too bulky and awkward.

One of the companies used to make a door lock setup with homelink. I wish it was still available.

That would pretty much be ideal.

I have something like this from kwikset, it's two years old and works like a champ. The only problem is that it eats through 4 AA batteries every 8 months...

Kwikset seems to offer things that are more along the lines of what I'm looking for, but I'm not too sure about their quality. I've got a kwikset door lock (not bolt) on my rear entrance door - it doesn't feel as well built as the Schlage sets. I may try it out though...

The battery thing is not a big deal since I've got plenty of rechargeable AAs for my photo stuff

I was looking at the Schlage system which even integrates into wifi/internet. Seemed pretty cool. You could get text messages when the door is opened, open the door via the internet and some other things. The downside is it requires $13/mo subscription - more than I could justify.

Yeah a subscription is BS. I would understand it for a business (track when your employees open/close) but for a residence? no way.
