Your favorite energy bars

What do you guys think?

I'm a fan of Cliff Bar Peanut Chunk (i think that's what it's called). 250 calories, tastes great, and fills me up.

I hate Powerbars. Sticky, chewy, tastes terrible, and sits like a rock in my stomach.

go to the foodnetwork channel and look for recipies by Alton Brown. His show is called Good Eats. On one of the shows he made a variety of health bars, including some protein bars that are absolutely wonderful, and very low in sodium and other crap. I bought all of the ingredients and made a batch and my wife just loved them. I plan to mix up another batch tomorrow night.

hands down, Cliff bar has been the best bar I ever had. I had one a few months ago at smoothie king and it didn't even taste like a protein bar. Ever since then I always pick one up if I miss a meal.

Target has a great sale. You get either 14 or 15 bars for $10 (depending on which brand).

Yeah I guess so, but the same question comes up many times on bodybuilding.com and they always flame protein bars and such, and the only acceptable bar is one that you make your own.

Ever read the ingredients on a cliff bar?

and powerbars are instant, easy energy. I haven't found anything better for what they do.

Protein bars are mostly crap, but there are plenty of good energy bars.

Exactly. The only time I ever have a protein bar is when I'm in a bad situation or didnt plan right. I don't think any protein/energy bars should be a staple in anyones diet, if they are serious about it.

I think it's funny because most health bars, aren't even HEALTHY at all. And even the healthier ones have false labeling claims.

Clif Bar Ingredients
Rolled Oats, Brown Rice Syrup, Cookie Crumbs (oat flour, brown rice syrup, barley flour, cocoa powder, expeller compressed canola oil, natural flavors, baking soda), Agave Nectar, Rice Crisp (rice, raisin juice concentrate, rice bran, salt), Rice Protein, Oat Bran, Barley Malt, White Chips (evaporated cane juice, cocoa butter, soy milk (soybeans, water), soy lecithin, natural flavors), Almond Butter, Fig Paste, Roasted Soybeans, Natural Flavors, Sea Salt, Baking Soda, Green Tea Extract - 50gm, Vitamins: Ascorbic Acid (vitamin c), Mixed Tocopherols (vitamin e), Beta - Mixed Carotenes (betatene)

Yeah, sugar is a little high because most of them are 'cookies and cream' or whatever flavors like that.

I agree that most of the protein bars are garbage, "Builders Bars" and all that crap. I just like cliff bars and powerbars as between meal snacks, especially at work when its hard to get actual food. I like powerbars before long cardio sessions too.
