Also due to super stressing because of work
Anyways I've been back on the semi-clean eating diet I was doing before. And portion controlling on meals I don't have as much control over.
I just barely started so I'm not expecting crazy results yet, but I can already tell something is working just by how my clothes fit.

Yea nutrition was bad, hence why I inflated 25lbs in such a short time.

Diet is uber-critical. Drink lots of water and make sure your daily fiber intake is good. Raw fruits and vegetables for the next couple of weeks (i.e. weekdays) would be ideal if you can pull it off.

Quick update since its been a year.
Fell off the routine in Jan and inflated about 25lbs by June/July.
So I bought a 2 year 24 fitness super sport membership and 15 rounds of personal training.
Been going religiously the past month. Mainly been lifting weights.
Squats, dead lifts, over head press, bench, cable pulls, ab/core work, etc and cardio everyday.
Weight right now is about the same as when I started but im happy my clothes are starting to fit better now.
Was borderline needing to move back up a pant size and dress shirt size

7 pounds in a month is not bad man!
I've been trying to cut and I've lost 10 lbs in a month but that's because I've been dropping carbs completely (except for broccoli's). I don't think you're dropping carbs like I am so yea, 7 lbs is great progress.

That much loss per month is unsustainable (unless you're like morbidly obese). I don't mean that in a discouraging manner, rather as a be aware that the loss rate slows down and gets more difficult as time goes on. Don't get discouraged when it happens- it's normal.
That's one of the reasons dieticians cringe at binge diets or these fad diets. People switch to Adkins, or Paleo, or whatever the diet du jour is, drop a bunch of weight the first month or two and then nature catches up with them and the weight loss slows or actually reverts.
But damn does it feel good to step in the scale and see a major change like that! Keep up the healthy and balanced eating, keep at the gym, and remember that 1-3 lbs/month is pretty normal and healthy.
I'm getting ready for a final round of training for the year and am not looking forward to all the salads. Need to cut 10-15 lbs by January so it's time for veg and cardio.
Good luck Miz!

But not morbidly? Because really, BMI of obese is about the American average right now, perhaps a little lower than average. (And I mean no disrespect or rudeness about any of this, just being direct)
But I suppose you can figure a few months of rapid loss before the taper, but still; don't be surprised by the slow down. FWIW, I like to keep track of weight, %fat, and %muscle. BMI comes along but I don't really pay much attention.
Weight is fine but pay attention to the percentages. You'll hit a tipover point where %muscle has increased and %fat has decreased and your weight isn't changing or starts to go back up. Just looking at weight isn't telling the full story, you gotta think about what's really happening.
Sorry if this is old info or been said before. But sometimes it helps to hear it again. Keep at it!

When I came back from Iraq I was a good 150lbs at 5'8". Finished my 6 years and injuring my ACL playing basketball got me up to 188lbs. I haven't been able to run due to needing one more surgery. I'm not going on a huge deficit in calories. I'm trying to burn fat while maintaining the muscle that I gained at 188lbs and trying to achieve physique rather than being skinny at this point.
Although I did ask my coworker I was afraid I'm losing weight too fast but he said its fine. I trust him haha. I'm currently at 175 and I'm pretty addicted to this healthier lifestyle.

Yeah, totally agree. It's not a bad thing per se, just don't expect to maintain a high rate of loss up to your "ideal" weight.
You can lose a lot quickly when you have a lot to lose. As you get leaner, the losses get smaller since you have less to lose.
My main point was to say that it's normal and not to get discouraged. I've seen a lot of people fall off the wagon when the losses slow down. It's easy to look back and think "we'll, I lost xx lbs when I started 6 months ago and I was just barely working out. Now I'm cranking in the gym, eating right, and I only lost x this month". But physiologically, your body has morphed and you've cut the low hanging fruit and are working on the middle of the tree, so to speak. That's the time to get encouraged and keep rocking, not get sad and eat cakes (man, I miss cake).
Also, everyone is different. Sounds like you know what you want and are in the right track!

If you're too lazy like I am to measure BMI and know that # of pounds is meh, how do your clothes feel tightnesswise. How do you look. What do people tell you because they will say something. And yes most importantly how do you feel as far as how you sleep, tiredness at work, and energy while training.
And yes you guys described the health industry. Shit is so psychological. Look how fast you lost weight in month 1. My method is the best!! I've seen my friends go to the same gym and do the same shit with the same weight and look exactly the same and not make any type of progression.

The last 10# is taking a little longer.
Glad you're back to taking better care of yourself, Matt.

I just saw a video that even how much weight you can lift does that also. Initially you jump pretty quickly but then you hit a nice plateau. It's never a straight line in the pounds/time ratio.

You're not fat Miz, just more to love
I'm in hotels 4 days a week and eat out every meal so it's been tough to keep a steady diet going.... Been trying to pick the healthy options when going out but when the company picks up the tab.. it's hard to not order that steak or add that lobster tail ...
Luckily for me, my metabolism is still fast and I'm still young-ish but it's going to stop so I better fix my habits before they do..

I think BMI is a reasonable measure for 90-95% of people. The point where it gets complicated is when there is significant muscle mass. I have always been athletic, and I probably carry muscle mass in the 90th percentile of Americans. With that in mind, my BMI is a pretty good indicator of my physical health. If you are a body builder or a regular lifter, the number can be misleading, and body fat % is a much better indication. However, the vast majority of people can rely on the BMI as a reasonable metric.

I kid. I don't drink soda. Dihydrogen monoxide is my poison of choice... Sometimes something stronger if clients were being extra stupid that day
(In my case, that's everyday)

Most people put on winter weight due to being stuck indoors.
I put on summer weight for the same reason. I am up about 5-7 pounds right now, need to get back into some type of indoor videos...

Quick up date. Weight loss is 10#, but if the BI scale is to be trusted, I've lost 3% BF 28>25%
I don't believe it, if I did lose 3% it's definitely not in my tummy
Squats I'm up to 160# working set
Deadlift I'm at 160#
Bench I'm around 145#
Bent over row 115#
Overhead press 90#
I do a few other lifts but they're mostly accessory lifts
