How fast can you run a mile?

I know how fast I can bike a mile -- but running, no, that's not for me.

failhard.
Heh I'm certainly built like one and I've heard that suggestion at least twice a year, but hockey's more my thing. Enforcer ftw.
FWIW, I was usually one of the top sprinters in my hockey teams ..

One on the right for me
In HS I did around 5 minutes. I probably could have trained better because my only conditioning was soccer.
Now (well, pre my week food and drink binge) I'm around 6.

I'm Down Right Fierce!
26 years old, 5'11, 145, below 10% body fat.
I usually run in the mid to upper 5's these days. Fastest ever was back in High school when I got a flat 4:55.
I was never much a of a distance runner. I think my best 3 mile was 20 minutes or so?
I don't know. I'm getting old....

Back in Good Ole' H.S. I ran it in 5:23 was my fastest mile. Then I was 180, Over the few years I hit 260 hahaha last summer I was at 207 and Ran 5 miles in 40 mins. Granted I got tired after the 3rd and was jogging the rest. Recently at 215 pounds I ran a mile at 6:48 in which I felt like passing over hahahaha. It's not really how fast but it's to keep yourself in the same pace. Focus on your breathing and pace you will run longer. I am back on track now to getting under ther 200 pound mark with running.

5k's and a few 10k's
the last oone i ran was in January. I ran somewhere in the 24 min range but i was running with a limp.
the last one i ran was last sept and i only finished in 21:40. We got off course and walkers were in the way so that accounted for 20-30 seconds. Hopefully i'll manage under 20 minutes, but we'll see.

I was consistently under 4:30 in HS...best was a 4:16. Got into my college for track/xc (no $ but a good school- turned down scholarship $$$ to go where I wanted to), but then I discovered fraternity life and it was all over I will never forget my coaches reaction when I told him I was pledging a frat...."who is it? It better not be _____" Oops! He was right.
An extra 60 lbs later and I could probably barely bust a mile in under 7. I still love to run though...very relaxing. It is funny, but I love and enjoy running more now than I did back in the day. That is probably b/c it was a "job" and was mentally draining to always be trying to get "faster" and gain another few seconds. Plus, I had an a-hole of coach in HS and just a jerk in college.

I've run in the bottom 6's a couple times with no room for improvement. I think I could've quit my job and trained 6 hours a day and not improved. I did however run a 10.7 100m. I would be lucky to do a sub 10 minute mile and a 14 second 100 today.

Whats up with RDX owners?
iTrader: (9)
That depends.
It takes me about 7 seconds to run from the garage door to my car, 30 seconds to let it warm up, and about another minute to go a mile. I'd say about 1:40
