One on the right for me
^ - It is nice to have goals however. I can't do the same run each week (distance wise) my break was to just see how much I could lower my mile time.

I'm at 8-9 minutes right now since i've put on some weight (not bad weight, i'm 5,7 - 170 , about 8-9% BF) - my fastest miles were at 150-155 at around 6-7 minutes, which i'm shooting for currently.

^ - Do you not do a lot of cardio? I don't think putting on the weight will really slow you down that much. I'm heavier than I was in high school but can knock out a mile in about the same time.

reading over this post again, I remember a guy who ran the mile in 4:40-4:50ish in middle school. Ultimately he ended up being a total pothead thug and didn't give a crap about school.... but the police surely never ran him down from behind
I'm more of a sprinter.... I swear I should have trained with my friends in HS but I was too lazy. Even as a pot-bellied out of shape kid, I tried out for the JV football team I ran a 4.7 in trainers on a shitty grass field. I leaned out a couple years later and tried out for track for kicks, and according to my friend, I ran seemingly step-for-step with the track team's 100m sprinter until about the 50m mark when I completely ran out of steam
ultimately I prefer biking like the other guys.... I can fight muscle fatigue to finish getting up that hill, but with running my lungs run out of air and I get lightheaded if I try to keep going.

I find that when im more "bulked", bigger and heavier shoulders, thicker legs, it slows me down.
I'm starting to run again though, since your "only as strong as your weakest link."

That's why in crossfit they have the long run days. I think once a week to two weeks they'll prescribe you to run at least 3 miles and that's your workout. Throw it in the rotation. BTW, did you move from NYC?

Depends what you classify as "cardio". I don't run alot. I do alot of metcon's based on CrossFit programming, but, it's still not running.

Depends on the type of course for me...but, I've recently timed myself around 5 minutes. But, I'm not pushing to fall flat on my face at the finish either...So, I suppose sub-5 is doable?

Naw, hence my comment on the type of course. Probably not on the roads or track...treadmill, yeah.

I'm Down Right Fierce!
Since my last post in here from about a 9 months ago when I was running in the 5 minute range, I've stopped running - mostly due to being lazy after work days.
I ran on a treadmill a couple weeks ago and ran a mile in 6:40... tack on another 20 seconds and thats probably the time I'd run on a track with normal running shoes.
Lost an entire minute and half off my time from a year ago, and not only that but I felt like I was going to die from suffocation.
I think I have a new resolution for this year and its to get back in the 5 minute mile range. Just running after a full days work is hard.....
