So.. yeah... this is my car... 1997 CL F22b1 5Speed
So... Ive had it since January... didnt do anything to it till about a month and a half ago... The car cost me $1700 came with a REALLY short ram air intake (useless), two extra racing seats (Broken), extra OBX headers (which im installing as soon as I get it painted), It came with those wheels which are lightweight REALLY LIGHT i might say but the paint was all F'ed up... So I plasti dipped them gold... The car wasn't in a bad condition, though the paint is not good, soon ill be getting it dipped matte white probably...
And TODAY... I took the Cruise Control off the car, so I'd have a cleaner engine bay... though I know its all dirty still ;-) But soon Ill get to clean everything when the tranny is back on.
Oh... I bought smoked signals... not really the ones I wanted but were significantly cheaper than stock ones that I wanted... cause the ones that came in it were all broken and had no plugs either...
And my Trunk... it came with no carpet liner... but found one in a CL at UPullAndPAy it cost me $10 and the spare tire $15... and the spare was TOTALLY new!
So... A month ago the transmission broke and wouldnt come out of fifth gear...
And I didnt want to pay lots of money to get it all fixed so Im doing it myself :-)
Thats the gear that broke. I went to UPullAndPay and got a 90 Accord Tranny and made the parts swap and closed the tranny... And since I had it out Ive cleaned it and starting doing small mods at the same time...
So I dipped my Valve cover the same color as my wheels...
Bought an ebay CAI w/ a Bypass... Im planning on making a box behind the bumper where the Filter will be that takes air from under the front bumper to the intake... Ill post pics of that when I do it.
I installed Stage 1 Clutch and PressurePlate and got the flywheel resurfaced.
So... yeah... ill keep posting on stuff I do to it... im sure im still missing things ...

So... I finished my transmission and installed everything back...
Here's what it looked like... Painted header and valve cover, but still a dirty engine bay...
I take the car out for a first run... and everything was great used it for two days... and on the third day on my way to a business meeting... it overheated and it didnt show on the gauge... The thermostat was broken... and it mixed water and oil... so... Im on foot again... was really mad at the moment but im good now... Took the head apart and took it to a machine shop where they'll fix everything and clean it and whatnot... $250 for everything including the whole gasket kit. I find it a nice price...
This is what it looks like now...
And the head before machine shop... hopefully tomorrow ill have it back...
And since I had everything out... I decided to just check everything else... so I took out the IM, cleaned the EGR which was completly clogged, checked on the injectors and cleaned the whole thing once and for all... it looks so much better now... I was going to paint it, but I decided not to cause it looked so nice how it was...
Im expecting my EGR, FITV and Air boost block off plates to arrive on tuesday...
Which will solve my idle problems and hopefully help with a lil power even though ill probably wont feel it on the butt dyno hehe...
OH almost forgot... I went to the junker and got the wheel well cover cause I didnt have one and on the front part where the CAI filter is... I made a custom lil scoop to get the air in... Check out the pics and tell me what u think...
Thats an aluminum sheet I put in it.. and the filter sits right in it... I did because i was thinking the filter there and no wheelwell cover was going to be a problem of it getting to dirty and when it rained it was going to have excesive water on it... I have a ByPass for the CAI that I havent installed... but yeah I think this will protect the filter a lot more and pull cold ambient air towards it at the same time....
What do you think? Nice idea? or what?

So I want to bolt my exhaust back together either today or tomorrow and I hope I can jog one of your memories. Anyone know if the bolts connecting the mid pipe to the muffler pipe are welded to the mid pipe?
Basically my nuts holding the pipes together rusted off, but the flanges look good, hell the bolts are still even beefy. I guess I'm wondering, if they could be freed up, or if my dremel tool is going to get some use(cut them out).
oh and I still havent worked out my electrical gremlins, ridiculous, problem definitely points towards a transmission position sensor or some other kind of failsafe. Basically it sometimes throws a tranny code and stalls, or sometimes if I put my foot on the brake before starting and it wont start. I did go an entire month with no codes or stalls, but it came back. Transmission still shifts smooth, the torque converter seems a bit sticky though. God I feel like I'm talking out my ass, but that's how I perceive the issues.

That spun bearing block sounds like an excellent project for some boost or high compression/nitrous

Well, I pretty certain my problem is the ignition switch. I've been detaching the key from my key ring and just using the one key. There is a noticeable difference, in fact the car hasn't stalled since (knock wood).

This week i finished my headlight black housing, my projectors, my corner lights amber (Duplicolor Metalcast orange perfect corner lights) and did my Rustoleum $50 paint job.. went from a old faded Cardiff blue green, to a mix up of navy, royal blue, and black, close to the Honda obsidian blue..
Still have to buff and cut.. but it all came together well..
old car
new car
also repainted my rims and calipers a couple of weeks back.. the rims i did in for ardent silver, have to redo them though some over spray got on the left side, and i did the calipers in gold with burgundy Acura decals, gonna finish everything off with gold Acura emblems. Here's a shot of the calipers this was when they were just shot didn't get to clean up the rotors at the time..

Not much of a nitrous fan but I have been playing with the idea of a 90mm bore (stock is 85mm) F20b, which would make it a F23b with some Jun cams, high comp pistons & much, much more…
High rpm screamer in a luxury coupe, no one would see that coming..I already get the … look all the damn time

A few weeks overdue... Over coming with rust, a check engine light and various problems that come with age. Replaced the 3.0CL with an 07 civic coupe.
Buy my CL includes full lip kit! haha. That and the rear sway bar is the only thing left on the car. I'd rather an enthusiast have it then some random guy buying a beater.
Honda Nation in my backyard..

Got the car out of hibernation and got the state inspection done by my buddy, had him change the oil and rotate the tires for the first time since I put my rims on. Car drives great, next up is an alignment since it hasn't had one in years. Also got a few parts that I'm getting ready to throw on in the next couple weeks. Drove her downtown to work today.

Installed my tranny cooler yesterday, finally just took a leap of faith and did it... but good thing i did or i wouldn't have catch that small tranny fluid leak coming from the bottom of the radiator. The metal pipe that runs out of the radiator tranny cooler wasn't tighten down all the way on the return line.. so fix that and ran the line from the radiator cooler to tranny cooler and back to transmission.. Really easy mod, next up is my springs..
Also I pulled apart the right headlight to get all the moisture out, and in the meantime added more coats of the metalcast corner light paint, here iss the pics for comparison.
Today ill take it easy check my tranny fluid level and fill if it needs to be, and maybe paint my acura symbols gold!

Sooooooooo, some actual progress and it was cheap. I decided to go to Acura and get a new key cut from the VIN, best thing I ever did! Cost $4.95 and the car runs perfect now, no stalls, no tranny codes, no problem with the shift lock mechanism. I couldnt get the key out for 2 days, but now it works just fine.
So, then I changed the oil, changed some AT fluid and fixed the leak in the exhaust. Its been a while since I could say this; I think this girl has a few years in her still.
This key deal is good to know, because I had no idea how intricate the key was supposed to be, looks nothing like the old one.

Yeah went to Acura with my son, sat down watched TV, had a complimentary soda and cookie and by the time I ate that cookie they came out with the key.

So. I found out the other day that I broke both axels, both lower control arms and inner tie rod, which will cost me about 740 to fix with labor. Not to mention having the need to replace bushings and engine mounts on the car is going to bring me over 1k to fix. Debating whether to fix the car or whatnot. leaning towards a brand new car though.

I hear you man. This is why i won't even look at any German cars if i wanted a different car. Im leaning towards fixing it only because i like having no payments. I don't think ill do any swap. Getting older and wiser.

The benefit of you doing a swap now is that we've already gone through all the BS for you and know what you should and shouldnt do, and can walk you through it to success! Doesn't need to be some performance screamer, but you'd enjoy the extra bump in power and the car would still be gas efficient.

Well I'm getting to that age where I should have my own house already. Plus photography has really put me away from modding since I can't have two expensive hobbies. My income doesn't allow it. Plus doing an H22 swap would force me to buy premium fuel, but I still like paying for regular.
