What did you do to your CL today?
#1921
And today I did nothing to my car. Except miss it. It's at my boys machine shop getting worked on. Bent exhaust valve fixed, full head job done, a/c line replaced and a/c recharged, right axle replaced, front motor mount replaced. It's had a bent exhaust valve since I bought it. The low idle stumble, poor gas mileage, intermittent CEL's, and horrible smell from the exhaust had me banging my head against a wall. When it's done I'll finally have pretty much a brand new car that actually runs well and gets decent mpg. The list of parts replaced on this car is long, and the time I've spent trying to get it right better be worth it.

Did some interior work, my cig lighter plug was loose and driving me nuts, so I fixed it and secured it with some electrical tape. Thing's been abused over the years. Also the LED kept coming loose from the cig lighter so I taped the crap out of that too. Put my double din back in, replaced my homelink with one that actually had buttons. Then I went to work on this.
This is actually my second CF dash kit, the first kit got ruined by sitting in my basement for too long, so this one got installed right away. I like it, I'm still getting used to it because it's a bit flashy, but it matches perfectly with my wrapped woodgrain and console pieces.

Oh, and had to snap a pic of the new bumper before the lips go back on

Finally put my Acura up for sale. 2 years since parting the CL, I still sadly have the lip kit for sale. Sad because it won't go to someone who appreciates it. 220000kms and the auto transmission is still going strong.
The CL was a good introduction to modding for me. From losing $800 in a bad deal for Teins that were never shipped and then going all out with suspension and rims in a week a year later. I always had a vision for the CL and I was lucky enough to scrounge the parts together.
It just got unenjoyable to drive and I couldn't stand it anymore. So with a check engine light on and emissions coming up. I wasn't going to fix it.
Now, the Civic is getting upgrades similar to the CL. Already installed an oem front lip and I'm looking for a rear lip too. Installed some TWM shift bushings so it would feel more like my s2000. Have an SI rear sway bar waiting to be installed.
The last picture of it modded. Someone spotted my car and took a picture... I never bothered to take pictures before I parted it.
The last pictures for the sale ad.
Fresh lip.
Everybody gets a front lip. Sometimes 2 front lips haha.

Closed the deal this morning on my 1999 CL 3.0 Cardiff Blue-Green Pearl. Picked up a friend and drove to the coast for a beautiful NorCal day with lunch and a walk on the beach. Perfect ride, perfect company, just pefect! Can't put up pix yet - there's this 5 post / 15 day membership hurdle going on. But learning a lot here - my tranny performed beautifully - in town drove in D3 then put her in D4 as we entered the highway - back in D3 as we climbed and descended the Santa Cruz Mountains between the SF Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Finally got mine back about two weeks ago. Running like a sewing machine and ice cold a/c again. I got bored so I retinted the windows. Some may like it, some may hate it. But it's hard to argue w 80% heat rejection and amazing visibility at night with 20% mirror, vs less than 50% heat blockage and no visibility at night w limo tint. Ps I have a FL medical exemption for sunscreen if anyone was wondering about legality.

I may go back to limo once it gets repainted. Idk. I may do some artwork in the tint too. Cut out a big A logo in the back window. Do you think that's too fast too furious? I had a huge DSM star in the back window of my Eclipse GST. I liked it.
Edit* I got the body kit for free. Trust me, that's not anything I would have ever paid for. Lol. But it needed a new one and the guy I tinted for bought me a full body kit for Christmas so I felt obligated to put it on. I swear the front looked like a coffee table-the nose was so big.

My buddy who's a mechanic helped me swap out my spark plugs last night, they hadn't been changed since the summer of 05, but didn't even look that dirty. He said it was the easiest one he'd ever done
The old ones and new ones are both NGK Iridium IX's

I removed all that horrible mirror tint yesterday and installed a set of components in my front doors. I'm gonna go back to limo tint. That'll be done today and hopefully i can get some decent pics of it in the sun with the new paint and powder coated rims.

Passing it on to my niece. She's got a 98 civic with a factory deck. She's 19 and going to USF, in the bachelors program and basically kicking ass. I'm gonna put it in her car along with a bunch of other stuff next time she comes down. Couldn't think of a better thing to do with it.

Also on today's agenda: had the right front axle replaced, oil pan gasket redone, fresh oil change and a new catalytic installed. No mas check engine light-o. Sounds a lot quieter too. This car is coming right along!!

I'm taking my car to the stealership today for the first time ever...resorting to the dealer (Acura of North Scottsdale) because the mechanics I've tried here were horrible, and they'll give me a free loaner car. Replaced the battery yesterday and had the starter and alternator tested and they both came back fine, but after the car has been sitting for a while it wont start on the first try. Or the second. Or the tenth.

Oracal 8300 is MY favorite! I just tinted my side markers. Had previously purchased 2 cut-outs on ebay for about 20 dollars for the rear lights. Some kid was asking me to tint his lights. Found a GREAT deal on signwarehouse.com for 15 inches by 10 YARDS!!! for 37 dollars. Im going to tint everything!
Comparision
They look dark inside.
The finished product. Once again the look a little dark but in person they look AWESOME!
Up close. Looks more see through
Nice shiny finish! No sanding..no spraying
With the hazards on. The light shines right on through
Think it makes the lights incorporate into the bumper/black area better
Super stretchy. Gotta love this stuff!

Also replaced the master and slave cylinders on my 98 2.3. When I had it all apart i sprayed some lithium grease into the shifter area and it made this horrible screeching sound when shifting. Took it all apart and re-greased it with some marine grease(bad idea, now my car has that smell...if you have ever used it before you will know what i mean). Shifts nice and smooth now. Was much needed and i didnt really even think about it. I think my syncros are going bad though, has 281,xxx miles on it. LOVE MY CL!
Picture for adjustment purposes...was out too far, now its in the middle.
Stupid ball that didnt accept my lithium spray...
All back together.

Today I put an amp to my components in my front doors. They sound amazing. So clear and loud. Lovin it!! It was a pioneer gm 510t. It sucks because it's only a two channel amp. But I might just wire them all and lose the fader control.

I like the tinted ambers, but I would use spray tint over film

I've never had issues with night shade, it always goes on smooth, you just have to do light coats. I would just worry about the tint film being that close to the ground and getting weathered, but with that said, my tail lights have had tint vinyl on them for 9 years and are fine
