LoL. I haven't bought anything off of ebay in about 10 yrs. Needless to say, the wind deflectors and the roof spoiler was shipped to my parents old house because apparently thats the address my ebay account had as default. The free shipping turned into $30 in gas and $6.50 in toll roads lmao. Fuck me right. All for $100 worth of parts haha. I was lucky though because not only did someone answer the door, but they still had my parts.

 

Once again, no go even with the new brake brackets. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

I'm just going to take the car back as is without a functional parking brake, but I will continue to work with the brake company to get it to work properly.

The new problem now is that the parking caliper is interfering with the bolts on the trailing arm.

 

sanded down rim scratches (just bought my cl last week woot, previous driver probable didnt know how to park!!!)

purchased rear rotors, 4 break pads, and front stabilizer link!!!

Reregistered the CL last night, and the diffuser arrived as well. Lower ball joint came in today and had to have the exhaust flange repaired near the rear. It looked to have rusted and broke off the spare wheel well. eek.

Well, I almost started crying in the car. The CEL came on, P0700 and P0758. No change in how the car runs, but I believe these are death codes. Okay, I'm just going to take it and hope maybe its not the end. I cannot fix something like this till tax returns and I'm feeling it'll be real close on getting another car or a trans. I really hope I'm wrong.

 

an update; the trans fluid is low, it was right at the bottom dot on the stick. I hope filling it, cures this.

off to honda for some really expensive atf.

The roof spoiler would definitely sit flush with the stock window, not so much with rivets around the lexan. Window wind deflectors installed as well, hopefully they work lol.



With thanksgiving right around the corner, I'd say sometime next week I'll deal with the diffuser.

Bah, painted the rivets flat black instead of satin black (picked up a random can in the garage), they do not color match at all! Too bad cause I aint doing it again haha

 

JB welding my iacv closed, its more than a headache since my car usually runs a bit cooler than normal. Lady has a date next friday for corner balancing ( and i'll finally get to know what she weighs) plus diffuser install. Woot!

 

In case you're wondering why I jb welded the coolant passage, well that's because I'm looping the coolant lines since the iacv is no longer being used. Those coolant lines run through the iacv and throttle body to raise air inlet temperatures to help the car warm up during cold starts. I've also read blocking this passage would help reduce inlet temperatures under normal driving conditions. I'll post pics of the reloop coolant lines once its completed, just need to pick up a 3/8" fitting from the hardware store. For now, the IACV needs 24hrs for the jb to bond.

 

Comparrison of the IACV delete and a stock one including where it attaches to on the throttle body exposed. The JB Weld ran me about $6.00 from the local hardware store.





Capped off the coolant lines with vacuum caps from Autozone for $2.59



These are the 2 lines I relooped using a 5/16" inner diameter brass hose splicer from the local hardware store for about $2.49



Here's a more clearer picture as to where it is located with my fingers pointing at the 2 lines I relooped.



Current findings:

1. It took 5 minutes for the car to reach ITS operating temperature with roughly 56 degree F weather outside.
2. With the idler screw in its original position, the throttle required permanent foot placement in order to keep the engine from bogging dead.
3. With the car in operating temperature (mine runs cooler than stock, between the half way mark and the [C]old sign) the car continued to require foot placement above 1000rpms to keep the engine from bogging at a stand still.
4. Upon trials, I immediately noticed no bucking from the throttle. The car responded exactly as expected. I will adjust my idler screw to set idle @ 1200rpms. This should eliminate constant foot placement on throttle while idling. I will update you on that later this week. I haven't driven the car either, but on the way to the shop this weekend I'll post an update on drive-ability.

Update on IACV delete;

Per Lancer Evolutions, about 1 full rotation on the idle screw results in 100 rpms differential. I'm currently 3 full rotations on the idle screw with the screw sitting about flush with the throttle body. I have found this setup with the rpms still too low to keep the car idled at rest without the use of my foot on the throttle. It has improved greatly at idle, but I will most likely give it 1/2 a turn more to see if that'll keep it on at idle and post my results.

Aside from the car needing slight throttle atm to keep her on at idle, while driving however, the car has improved 10 times fold. Absolutely no bucking of the throttle during hard acceleration or threshold braking whatsoever. This alone makes the mod 100% worth while imo. Bucking has been the cause for throwing the balance off on the car during hard cornering, which was a big concern to me due to safety issues on the track. So you could imagine how happy I am to have fixed this problem.

 

Quite honestly, I believe all the OG's hanging around are still fiddling with their years long projects. We just move a bit slower than most because of the headaches in between lol. I'm 1 1/2 years into my damn BBK setup and it's still not finished. Waiting on my 3rd or 4th rear brake bracket, bah!

Yessir thank you. I couldn't pass up on yungones deal for both. I'll get started on the engine around Feb. My next move will be a new set of wheels (17 x 9.5 with 255 width tires) before I start working on the engine.

 

The car weighed in at 2653 lbs with 3/4 tank of gasoline. The suspension was tuned at MP by GF Suspension. 8 hours was spent on it, corner balancing and basically retuning and changing suspension components. Rear springs were changed to ones with a 10k spring rate, whereas the front springs were reused. The final cross weight distribution is 50%. I'm going to be leaving a lot out because simply, it was beyond my knowledge.

The diffuser was put together and measured on the car which included buying new hardware to make it work but has not been installed. I'm having to reroute my muffler in order to make this work. The diffuser will be delayed till Monday. Small update on the brackets, they will not ship out until next week.

 

Nice to see more progress on your car Cocoa, mine's just been sitting on the battery tender since the weather got shitty. Need to pull her out and run some stabil through the gas lines to preserve the fuel. Hopefully do it this weekend now that all the snow and ice is off my driveway. My dad's car slid out of my driveway all the way out into the street, with his parking brake on, on Saturday night

 

Fired her up yesterday, backed her out in the driveway, treated the gas with some Stabil, ran her for a few mins, and put her back in the garage back on the battery tender
