Noob question, how you explain the procedure for paying at the pump to someone who has never done it before. My "friend" wants to know.

 

It should have the instructions on the pump.

Usually it's insert rebate card, insert payment card, push buttons, pump gas.

From what I remember, you put your card in first. Then it asks pin, how much you want to spend, then you select grade, then you remove nozzle and insert into car and pump gas.

 

So lets say you punch in $100 and your car only takes $50, only 50 will be charged to your credit card/deducted from debit?

 

^ yes. some stations gives you options of $10, 15, 20 etc.. but there are also some that just immediately sets it at 100dollars, but only charges you on how much you pump.

also even if.. say you punch in the set amount of 20 dollars or 50 dollars and only pump 15.50 worth of gas, thats how much they will charge you. simple dimples.

All the stations have preset numbers, but also the option to punch in your own value to the nearest dollar.


Also... is it just me or have used car prices jumped up the last little while? Cars in similar condition to mine are going for $1k more than what I paid last year.
