Proposal ideas?
I cannot believe it, but I'm thinking about popping the question soon. I've been with my girl for over three years now and I'm feeling that it's about time to really commit. I thought that there was a thread on this subject before but cpuln't find it in the search soooo here is my predicament.
I want to surprise her somewhere publicly. I know of all the corny ideas like the PA at the ballgame and all that crap. I just wanted to see if any body on Azine has actually done something original or knows of something original as far as proposing goes.

I have a friend that works for the Pittsburgh Penguins and he was going to hook me up letting me do it in front of 17k people on the ice. About halfway through the planning process we were watching a show where someone proposed during a bball game. She mentioned that she would hate to have it done in public and would rather it be a private thing. So I cancelled any plans I was making and made it a romantic private event.
So basically just make sure she wants it to be a public scene before you accidently embarrass her in front of a bunch of strangers.

You could take a weekend trip somewhere and plan a nice romantic proposal. Maybe have guest services set up the room while you guys are out at dinner, then come back and propose.

I second the "make sure she'd want it done publicly" suggestion. While I applaud the desire to be creative and to put some effort into it, I'd personally much prefer the privacy to express my emotions without feeling self conscious. Just one gal's opinion.
Good luck!

A lot of people don't like the public thing. Make sure she's down for that.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
Have her over to your house when things are a mess. When she finally gets sick of dirty dishes and starts cleaning up ask her to marry you.
I kinda wish I had done the more formal dinner with a tableside proposal thing... My wife is far from sentimental so anything special would have been wasted.

I asked my wife while we were on the Ferris wheel at a really cool place called The Aquarium, which had been our 1st date when we first met....I actually got the Ferris wheel to our selves and the guys running it sang to us in harmony after I asked her... it was awesome, like from a movie or something...

I took my gf at the time to brunch on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building here in Chicago. I knew one of the workers so we sat where we could see out to Lake Michigan. At a pre-planned time I had a small single engine airplane fly by on the lake with the banner flowing "will you marry me?" and I said "hey look whats that?" and by the time she looked back at me I was on one knee with the ring out. WTF. It's all downhill from there! JK! JK! but it is pretty life changing of course, especially if you dont live with her. Good luck!

I did the beach proposal too, but we left too late, it got dark, and I lost my temper during the drive there. I ended up proposing by saying "I guess this is as good as it will get" and handed her the ring box.
And I was right. My marriage was doomed long before it started.
